murli kartik

This type of selection blunder is possible only with Indian selectors only where regionlism and other factors are more important than field performance otherwise what else reason Murli Kartik is ommited who bowled brilliantly in recent past few senior players will when upto stic with there past performences.Istrongly feel sorry for Murli but same time i hope that he will not give up after all this is our very own and democratic and so called fair selection comitte which he have to face during his entire cricket carrier.

About the selection of team for Australia
by Pavan on Nov 18, 2003 04:34 PM

Some of the selections have been very conflicting. Its time our selectors gave a second thought about the selection of Kumble and ignoring the claims of Kartik. Though he is a senior campaigner, its time other fellow players who have been performing be given an opportunity which should be our goal eventually as we need to groom the Test team for future. Oflate, Kumble lacks the fire and the charm.
If my speculation is not wrong, I am sure this series will be last for him as he has not got anything great.
Its really tough for him to succeed and convince, now.

Dear Bengal tiger,

I don't no why the hell u r not picking Badani & Karthik. Do u thing Harbajan with shine in the tour.
Wht for the hell u have choosen Chopra & Ajit Agakar.
One of the worst selection was Ajit Agakar. U all very well know that he holds the record down in Aussie for most no of ducks inspite of tht u the board and ganguly have selected the guy Agakar.
I am total not satisfied with the team.

If My country loose it because of the poor selection.

Karthik!
by Ramesh Sistla on Nov 16, 2003 11:15 PM

Hi!

I really really feel sad for Murali Karthik. Whenever he was given a chance, he never failed to make a mark and outshine others in bowling and yet, he finds himself in this time and again. I really have no words to express how sad I am. We could have definitely rested Bajji and taken Kartik. I do not know what this experience business is with Kumble. No doubt he is a fighter but he is also clueless most of the times. So much for experience. Phew!

I can only pray that Murali gets a good break asap, even if that means one of the spinners has to get injured early on in the tour.

Ganguly's Magic.
by michael on Nov 16, 2003 10:50 PM  | Hide replies

again the captain made way for "Deep Das Gupta" ahead of "Murali Kartik" and "Hemang Badani" .
Lets stop this regionlism and politics that is rampant in Cricket.

and please Mr Ganguly dont give reason for inclusion of second wicket keeper saying all the ifs and buts ..No cricketing brain in the world will pay heed to your reasoning of selecting DEEP DASGUPTA.

Kartik vs Dasgupta
by Dinesh on Nov 17, 2003 03:11 PM
You should compare Kumble/Harbhajan with Kartik.
By comparing Deep Dasgupta with Kartik, you have
clearly exposed your regionalism feeling. Do not
try to put the blame on Captain who has done
everything best for the country.

yuvraj and karthik

Considering the fact that murali karthik has performed so well on all chances that has been given...he shud have been given a berth in the indian squad...there is no point taking kumble as all know he's going to go for a six...karthik bats well too...remember he used to open for his state....
one more thing...even that laxman shud be banned from any further int'l cricket....he performs only in one innings in the entire test series and rides on that.

Karthik, Yuvraj rejected for Aus

It is amusing to see that Deep Das gupta is being selected once again despite his awful performances whenever he was offered a chance, He is no where close to being a national level wicket keeper, It is equally sad that a fine bowler like Karthik is not being given a chance. Strange are the ways of Indian Selection Committee.

Why? Can't someone improve his game? There was a time when Dravid was axed from the Indian team as far as one days are concerned but he improved his game & now is considered to be one of the mainstays in not only Test matches but also in LOIs & frankly speaking, how much do you know about Dasgupta's performance at the domestic level after he was shown the door from the international arena? Now don't tell me that you keep a tab on Dasgupta's career at the national level!!

Kumble will be a total failure in Australia. I rate Murli Karthick ahead of Harbhajan and Kumble.

bad selection
by venkatesh bhat sarpangala on Nov 16, 2003 07:05 PM

i feel selector committed mistake by rejecting yuvraj. Bcoz condion in the australia is very much favourable to people like yuvraj, kaif. Even Yuvraj played very well in england, Newzealand, south africa. i feel this is the biggest mistake.

Regarding the rejection of Murli Kartik from test squad
by shaurya on Nov 16, 2003 06:07 PM

This was really a very bad idea of not taking Murli Kartik as we all know,at this time he is the only spinner who can stop Australians a little bit and i think he is the best we have.
Experience as a reason to choose Kumble in Squad is baseless and I think mindless too because who doesn't know about his performance at places out of our subcontinent especially in Australia.Who doesn't know about his meager performance in the last Australian tour? Did he not have enough experience at that time? or he is getting experience by mucking up this tour too? or selectors don't have experience of last tour? He is like a burden to be carried by the indian team. I think taking kumble in place of kartik is totally wrong. And he is the worst fielder in the team. In case of Kaif, Yuvraj and Hemang selectors may be right as these are "Typical One-day players", but they can consider Hemang Badani as he is the best Batsman available outside the team.
And one more thing about the second wk Deep Das Gupta who probably had more than enough chances to proof his abilities and emerged a a big time failure. I think being from WB is not a healthy reason of his inclusion too.
Thats all.
