I dont agree with Faisal
by Anand on Nov 15, 2003 11:53 PM

Hi,

I dont agree with Faisal saying "disappointing tour of India for the Kiwis". This is absurd. It is Indians who should be dis-appointed. The Kiwis did play well and drew the series which even Aussis lost. Come on Faisal. Wake up to reality. Don't write since you have write something. I think guys at Rediff are sleeping.

Tendu and Viru played brilliantly. Rahu was super brilliant. Lachchu and Yuvi were disappointing.

Its and interesting fact about India VS Newzealand match
by Anil Pereira on Nov 15, 2003 11:17 PM

India and Newzealand were the 2 teams who were fighting to qualify for the finals.

A win with a bonus point and India would reach to 16 Points
A win with a bonus point and NewZealand would reach to 16 Points

Whoever wins qualifys for finals

Now India Sets to make 16 points:

So score for final league match of India
353/5 => 3+5+3+5=16

Newzealand had to choose to make a total of 16 or remain on 10 or make 11 atleast.

Score for final league match of NewZealand

208 => 2+0+8=10

So they choose to remain on 10.

These are the match stats for the final league match between India and Newzealand.

Some observations !!
by Vikram on Nov 15, 2003 11:11 PM

Good win for India . Should give them a lot of confidence for the finals . But one thing was worth noticing .. When Dravid leads India he tries to do the things that Ganguly doesnt and for which a biased section of the media critices him(Ganguly) . This Dravid does in order to get some public opinion in his favor without realising that it is detrimental to the side .I am talking abt giving Tendulkar a bowl ... Tendulkar is a very ordinary bowler who more often than not will bowl full tosses and crumble under pressure . Ganguly realises that and never gives him a bowl . But Dravid in order to get cheap biased public opinion in his favor gets Sachin to bowl. Either this is the case or Dravid is too meek to say no Sachin when he asks him for a bowl . Thats why we need Ganguly at the helm who deals with all with a firm hand in team's interest irrespective of the players reputation.

"Tendulkar attacked with the vigour of a puppy pouncing on a chew toy."

I am sure you guys have more meaningful linguistic skills than displayed in the above sentence.

Rahul as WK
by anthony on Nov 15, 2003 10:31 PM

I don't undertsand why critics and observers of the game put so much on Rahuls Wk and batting...Is Gilchrist not a WK and a batsmen? Going back...Farokk Engineer was one...in recent times even Alec Steward did the Job well...I think it is a matter of adjustment and if Rahul can adjust himself to the needs of the job..encourage don't write articles bringing him to think that he is doing a wrong job...in work don't you take on more responsibilties without sacrificing your main task? Only a mature and talented man can do it..I think with all hi sWK blunders..in ODi..India should persist with RD!

whats happening?
by shine on Nov 15, 2003 08:54 PM

fleming has missed a beauty, just in time!
usually these scores belong to the opponents.. but what happened here.
looking at it carefully it is the ideal start that the indians got that paved way to such a good score; the master and his student did very well indeed. the way the maestro scored just proved that he is the best!(but do have to admit that recently he has got it into himself to lose his wicket as soon as he reaches his 100). and then a blinder from dravid; but all he had to do was attack as there was nothing to lose, they were already past 300.
from the bowling front, agarkar gave quite a good start. but it was indeed the batsmen who have sealed the match.
fleming would feel relieved that he wasn't down there.
and what is he going to blame now?
