It amazes me that a cricket gets as much as 2.21 lacs for bowling 10 overs or for scoring a duck in an ODI!Contrast this with the general income level in the country.Let"s not waste time in looking into the merits or otherwise in their contracts.

revised system of graded payments!!

The only concern here that might arise is that of friction between arise between the players.different sums of money for the same match might lead to lack of cohesion among players ,,,otherwise a good move.

It's absolutely right to cut the money as players are getting a lumsum without showing ant performances in many matches, they in that way pretending us so they must be rebuked severly.

the clause for losing money in the event the team loses. If there has to be a clause for a rewards in case of victory then it is amust that the team loses money in case of a loss. the players are paid retainer fees. the best players are selected from the country. by the time the players start playing for the country they are earning enough.
the players would perform better if there is a fright in the mind that they might lose money in case of a loss. rather than as a incentive of getting a reward for winning.

Penalty for Losing.
by Satish Thengdi on Nov 08, 2003 07:03 AM

Imposing penalty for losing is like encouraging match-fixing. Such a dirty idea can only be thought up by BCCI who has a proven record (and need not be proved again) of "rubbing players on the wrong side (holding up match fees)", "promoting match-fixers (Jaddu, Azar & Co.)", "dishing out stepmotherly treatment (Navjot Sidhu...) to promising players", to mention a few. Do they really have a place in their cap for yet another feather?

The players'fees are quite high.Since they will enjoy a bonus in case they win, they should also be penalised for defeat. That will be only fair for purposes of accountability.

Good for the team

If the team is penalised for losing there would be accountability. Tt is always good for the team as they would pay for their own money.

Almost all in the nation are being paid based on their performance. A person like Ganguly or tendulkar gets crore round the year even if they lost a world cup final or a crucial match.

They should be not only penalised but should be fined if they do silly mistakes. Such act would make them accountable. AFter all they are getting more money to lose.

Regards,
~Padman~
