Fleming musing
by kshitij on Nov 06, 2003 12:56 PM

Look who is talking about crowd entertainment - what happened to this point when he asked to prepare worst pitches back home

I don't know why we listen craps from such players, we should have given them the most turning pitches ever made in India - bcos these guys will cry from roof-top in whatever we provide them

It is Strange
by Vikram on Nov 06, 2003 11:13 AM

I find something very strange . Touring cricket team players in India get space to write columns all over the Indian media where they brainwash the public opinion . Tell me one thing .. when India go to Australia will Sourav Ganguly get any chance to post his opinion in Aussie media or for that matter did the Kiwi media give him space when we were touring NZ . Then why this liberty for them when they are in India. When will the Indian media get out of the colonial mentality of bowing down to whites ?

hey hey fleming, getting scared of India even before the match?? That's why the comments like "The future of Indian cricket is in strong, good hands", etc etc.. Indian cricket is always very strong and will be for years to come! You guys better watch out for us in the coming years!! We will come at you like anything.. And you can't use you now popular words like "the pitch is unfair, etc"!

Cricketers need to be sporting athletes: Not whiners
by shriram on Nov 06, 2003 05:54 AM

Cricketers, whoever or whichever country he is from, need to be sporting athletes. There are so many games played all around the world, and all that the players think about is how to beat the opposing team and not whine about dew, day-night, first batting, home-away conditions etc. Its a shame that there is not much of difference between kids whining in a game in the streets of mumbai and the so called international stars whining about the difficult conditions. You play, whatever be the conditions and try to win, else try next time. There is no place for losers who want to take cover to shodow the real reason for their loss: Poor play.

Fleming's cry
by Nitesh on Nov 06, 2003 05:26 AM

I do not completely believe Flemming when he says that conditions were unfriendly in early morning and a lot better rest of the time and thats why they lost quick wickets in both matches. What he has to say about the fact that even Aussies lost quick wickets despite batting second? He is having some memory problem to recollect that in the last series in New Zealand he said that good teams should be able to bat and bowl in any condition, on any pitch. What he expects now? The same pitch and condition that exist at his backyard ground? I feel that a good captain like Fleming needs to be more sport than this. I appreciate previous teams visiting india to have shown better respect and appreciate Hooper, Hussain, Pollock, Streak et al for showing the sportsmanship spirit and maintaining the stature of an astute captain even after loosing.

pls do not teach us how 2 entertain
by Shreyas on Nov 06, 2003 02:53 AM

with due respect to fleming and his captaincy I wud wish that he didnt come out as such a huge cry-baby. Where was Mr Fleming and his philosophy of entertaining in ODI's when 150's was the norm set up during indias tour of nz no matter who batted first. What about his views on getting dead flat batting tracks in India where his team could survive just because of the deadness of the wicket and where was entertainment when his team put us to sleep with not so much entertaining stuff for a period of 5 days..(here even the indians r to b blamed).... if anything Fleming should fall at our feet for giving his team such batting paradises in the tests and helping him salvage self respect as a captain... if they cant win the toss maybe he should call India to NZ and start a system where only the home team can win the toss and maybe he wud b happy then... Grow up...Work with ur substandard team and b happy with what u r achieving Mr Fleming...

Dont Whine!
by scifilvr on Nov 06, 2003 12:57 AM

Shut up and play!

Dont Whine about the conditions.

It's called Cricket. Nobody said everything will be fair. Fire-crackers will go off in India, there will be chill in an Island Country close to the South-pole making it difficult for people from the tropics.

It is how you deal with them that separates the boys from the men!

Deal with it!!
