Absence of Ganguly & Nehra took the game away.
by Pinto on Nov 03, 2003 09:26 AM

Absence of Ganguly is felt on every part of the game, whether in captaincy or in batting. Look at the hype we have with Shewag. 3 innings 2 zeros. Here is the need of Ganguly who has an enviable average in ODI next only to Sachin. Average speaks of consistency. Shewag,Juvraj,Kaif (all below 40 average) have to travel a long way before we brand them 'dependable'. In bowling too absence of Nehra costed us.we are not in full force and let us accept it with grace in spite of blaming our bowlers or batthers individually. Hope to see Ganguly and Nehra soon on the field.

Bunch of loosers
by Kris on Nov 03, 2003 06:09 AM

Only India can lose on its own turf. If we can lose on our flat pitches or spin pitches, what happens when we go to countries like Australia and New Zealand.

I guess we Indians should get rid of obsession about Cricket and Sachin. These cricketers are bunch of loosers as they are getting millions even if they are loosing and as long as the public's memory is short they will survive. Let us encourage other exciting sports like soccer, hockey etc.

Au Vs India match # 4 of TVS Cup
by Madhav on Nov 03, 2003 03:45 AM

It was gifted to Aussies by Zahir , Viru and Sachin. If Indian world class batsmen cannot take on the second level aussie bowlers on home soil then in AU when Glen, Bret and jason willl be back India cannot not even think of ewven putting any fight. These guys will cme back from down under with 0 wins, not even against any club in AU.

good work, srinadh!!
by ak on Nov 03, 2003 03:25 AM

i feel that srinath is going to be a very good writer for indian cricket. He shows the his depth of cricket knowledge with his writings. He gives a broad idea. Unlike many other cricketers, who keep writing in the view as an average indian cricket spectator, srinath views the game as a professional cricketer. He shows no bias. keep it up srinath!!

limitations
by Durgesh j. Danait on Nov 03, 2003 02:57 AM

We can't blame our Indian Team for its losses, because the limitations they have to overcome to emerge as a winner are huge. For instance, Because
Rahul Dravid( Karnataka) is captain, Anil Kumble( Karnataka) has to be there in the team, which seems to be really unnecessary. So that is limitation one.
Since Virendra Sehwag has batting style just as the master himself, he's there in the team. Again thats a limitation imposed. Srinath, what should one say about him. He should have retired long back. We had great bowling talents in Raju Kulkarni and now in Salvi, but few people are so selfish that these people have place only on bench.

So can we say here that out bench strength is good but our team is weak because of the imposed limitations.

I hope You Understand my love for my team.

Martyn dint really take the game away
by Vivek on Nov 02, 2003 11:52 PM

I owe the defeat to both bowlers and batsmen. Zaheer gave away a lot of runs. India dint make use of the turners * the aussie attack was never threatening , only dravid , tendulkar and yuvraj gave away their wicket * sehwag's out was a dubious decision * had tendulkar didnt play risky shot like the one he got out he would coasted india home. * the tv replays showed how shoddy tendulkar was on da day * i remember Homies Srinath and Kumble rescued india from an almost defeat to a great vicotry against Mark Taylors australia. Why cant tendulkar and agarkar achieve if not so regular batsmen tail enders Srinath and Kumble could achieve ? it was a not a great competition, just india threw away. Few things were clear Indian batsmen were solid yesterday gives new hope that we could very well chase a mammoth total. Especially rahul with a bit of luck could have outlasted other batsmen yesterday. I am starting to get a feeling that Rahul could make a better one day captain than his predecessors . Later Vivekanandan.

Indian Bowling as bad as it was at world cup
by Yogesh on Nov 02, 2003 11:50 PM

Srinath, looks like hasn't learnt from the world cup. He still calls the bowling at Ahemdabad as good!!! He doesn't understand this fact that the Mumbai match wasn't lost because of the batsman, it was lost because of the terrible bowlers. Who can't even bowl properly. Looks like bowling wides and No-Balls is their right. They don't even have shame to correct themselves. Compare the figures of number of noballs and wides bowled by Austrailians and Indians, Srinath then you would have an idea of class of Indian bowling.
India never reached finals of worldcup because of bowlers, it reached because of good batsman. Indian bowlers had literaly given away the world cup match against Pakistan. It was because of Sachin Tendulkar and the good Indian batsmen that the Pak match was won by India.

When in any1 in our tem going to take the game away from the Aussies ?
by Nihar Panda on Nov 02, 2003 10:13 PM

I am getting a little tired of this clamour to praise the players of the opposite team. Such lavish praises are not bad things provided we also do a little introspection which sadly has been missing among Srinath and other Indian bowlers.
