Bichel is a below average player. Any fourth bowler who comes in to bowl after Mcgrath, Gillespie and Lee will be decently sucessful as players tend to do all their scoring against them and hence succumb. For a while the likes of Damien Fleming, Micheal Kasporowicz etc were in that category and now its Bichel nothing else.
If he were to be their strike bowler he wouldnt have been half as sucessful. So lets call a Spade a Spade just because he got Lara out seven times it doesnt mean a thing.. . He has average pace, hardly any swing he bowls probably one good ball in a couple of overs . Since batsman try to score all the time he gets wickets on his good and bad balls Period!
No doubt, Australian all-rounder Bichel dismissed Brian Lara maximum times in the ongoing series, but the Windies skipper is definitely a far better batsman to take on bowlers like Bichel. One should not take the credit away from Bichel, but one should also not forget that Lara gets carried away when he is well settled as he plays an indiscreet shot which proves his undoing. But full marks to Lara for hailing Bichel's effort.
By seeing playing Bichel in cricket through World Cup 2003...he is a topclass player..i mean allrounder....since he played less match in worldcup but he is among top 10 wicket taker bowler...if he played all the matches..no doubt he is the best allrounder of world cup..without him it is impossiblet to Aussies make record of 21 continuous wins.................Mahesh Bang
Bichel is a utility palyer with a never say die attitude.A great trier, definitely a captain's delight. Lara is indeed very right in his assesment about him.
I agree with the one of greatest batsmen in the cricket era,Bichel is the great bowler to make batsmen di mistake. He really mix up delivery well, when the team needed, and he raise his standard with the batting too.
