Sledging..? Indians..?
by Ram on May 27, 2003 08:56 AM

Hello Mr.Malcolm Gray,
I don't understand as to why you have clubbed the Indians along with Australians with respect to sledging.
Australians act as barbarians and intimidate the opponents. Their test captain Mr.Steve Waugh is known for his so called cheap "mind games". The Waughs, McGraths, Gillespies, etc should be thrown out of cricket and their records should be stripped from them for their foul mouths.
Whereas, you can never find the Indians indulging in such petty tactics.
Talent is a different matter - cricket is not all about talent - it is a gentlemans' game.
I request you, nay, order you to correct yourself about your views on Indians, Mr.Gray.

-Ram

The ICC deals with all equally

I think such people are biased and thier interviews should not be taken or published, it is a waste of time.

He is not avoiding answering any questions, and blaming the person who is interviewing him.

We can see that the ICC has not been fair to some countries.

SOme countries want to run the world cricket , the way they see it.

As was the case of Mr McGarth he should avoid playing cricket if he is so afraid of losing.
Losing and Winning are part of a game and they should be accepted in a true sprit.

Joking...
by Ramanathan on May 27, 2003 06:34 AM

Gray is joking.. Certainly, not all the countries are treated in the same way. It seems there are three categories 1) Asian country 2) Australia - Asian countries and 3) Australia. No one understands why Australians get away after doing some ugliest things. Gray also cannot understand that because (I presume) he is an Australian and Australian culture is anyway ugly (as per Daniel Laidlaw).

Ramanathan.

The ICC deals with all equally

The outgoing ICC President has been a failure and has has beeb instrumental in lowering the image of head of such a body. The least he should do is to gracefully accept that he was partial and biased favourably towards white skin.

His talking of equal treatment is shameful

A taste of his own medicine!

I commend rediff.com for exposing the hypocrisy/double-standards of the ICC president Malcolm Gray in their recent interview. It is nice to see that Rediff.com could ask Malcolm

Gray some of the questions that Indian cricket fans have been complaining for quite some time.

The Indian Captain Ganguly has also expressed unhappiness recently about the ICC's un-evenhandedness while dealing with players misconduct. The punishment seem to vary depending on the countries involved.

For example, sledging is one issue that Gray and his cohorts at ICC has either evaded completely or used conveniently to suit their own interests . They punish Indian players for sledging or excessive appeals, but let Australia get away with it, more often than not. Recent treatment of Mcgrath in West Indies only confirms these suspicions .

In the Rediff interview, Gray has repeatedly tried to explain this away by saying he wants to remain above this . But the recent evidence shows that repeated complaints of 'ICC-bias' in treating Australia and England players more leniently the rest is not entirely unfounded. So keep up the good work Faisal!

Aussies always get away with it, no matter what!!
by Jagan on May 26, 2003 11:05 PM

Faisal

You should have asked Malcom, had it been someother player in place of McGrath taling about the sexual preferences of the batsmen, how he ICC would have dealt with it. Sourav also raised the same issue. More than anything the umpires on the scene (including the reverred Venkat) proved to be morons. They should have straight away reported to match referee and sought suspension on Glenn for atleast 3 test matches ..why i say this is, next time this happens, the respective board is going to point to the McGrath issue and it will snow-ball into a controversy. No point just blaming Gray, if the umpires and match referees do not want to take action. Are the umpires being threatened not to take action against aussies ..well i dont know, but to me that looks more of a possibility.

by Ayush on May 26, 2003 11:02 PM

Faisal, don't let these aussie clowns step all over u like that. for sure u're an indian journalist. then obviously u're gonna ask india-centric questions. make them answer the tough questions, and make them openly understand that there is no cricket without india. the icc obviously has problems with india thats y they get all defensive whenever India is mentioned
