Gettin Australian batsmen out cheaply.
by DIPEN SHAH on Feb 07, 2004 10:41 PM

ADAM GILCHRIST: The best solution is to bowl him short outside the off stump where he has to cut with fielders on the THIRD MAN boundary and SWEEPER on the OFF SIDE boundary. He would not get his boundaries there. If he to edges one he could be caught at both places and the bowling would be one side of the wicket. He would be frustrated in not getting his boundaries and thus would take risks. Further, he will have to fetch the ball outside the off stump to play it on the on side making it risky. And as the bowling would be outside off stump, he would not be able to get it pass the up fine leg fielder. There should also be a short cover fielder to stop him from driving. As he got out to hooking on the fine leg in the first final, he would be expecting it and surprise him with the opposite strategy. REMEMBER OUR OPENERSs THIRD MAN DISMISSALS.

The field : Wicket keeper, Slip 1 ,Third man, Backward Point, Sweeper on the fence, Short extra cover, Mid off, Bowler, Mid on, Square Leg, Short fine leg.

MATTHEW HAYDEN: He always walks across the off side to play his shots on the on side. Further, he also stands a foot outside his batting crease. The keeper should keep an eye on it

i feel sorry for the indian selectors
by mukesh on May 27, 2003 04:59 PM

i feel soory for the indian selectors that they cannot have a replacement for Srintah ..He is still asked to be in the team when young stars are waiting in the queue..He is the best bowler no doubt but one must see the fact that he is not interested in the longer version ,then how he can play with full potentials.

Does Sourav first of all merit his place in the TEST side
by Anand on May 27, 2003 01:26 AM

I don't think Sourav merits his place in the Indian test team.
Hemang Badani or Mohammad Kaif are more reliable than
Sourav, especially when it comes to facing the Aussies who
are going to pepper him with short-pitched deliveries

srinath has to play...
by niranjan on May 24, 2003 03:33 PM

playing srinath, will add strenth to indian team in aus. In some times he may fail to bowl well(like, World cup final 2003) but lot of times he bowled well. We shall believe he bowl well in aus.

Srinath retairment
by K. Rajaiah on May 24, 2003 02:12 PM

It is better to quit srinath from Cricket. My opinion is if he is not interested, why we should think about him. There are many sources, of course selectors must identify correct persons.
It is not a bad news as he was not performing well in recent days.

Regards,

Rajaiah

Can't we get a Srinath from indian youngsters?
by Geethan on May 24, 2003 02:11 PM

I dont know why Ganguly still depending on Srinath. Obviously Srinath is the best bowler. But whenever he wants to retire,he is being forced by Ganguly to stay in the Indian team.

We have such a lot good youngsters in India. Why can't they be maded as Srinath or better than Srinath. How long we will depend on Srinath?

Instead of bringing Srinath , we can opt for some good youngsters like L.Balaji or Salvi in the Indian cricket.

Srinath needed for Australia tour
by mnvvprasad on May 24, 2003 01:50 PM

Better Srinath plays full season and retires.Because
really he is in very good formand that certainly can help us in Australia if that form continues.
Also few good fast bowlers are shaping up well in Indian team. His presence this year can help them out in many ways.

we should give chance to youngsters.
by rajdeepak on May 24, 2003 01:39 PM

Agreed ,that Srinath has given a valuable contribution to Indian team in several matches, but in recent past if we exclude world cup-03 ,he has not been very consistent ,rather been inefficient and inconsistent.
There are talents present in Indiam team ,many young faces have come up.salvi is good , nehra is performing well, so all these youth should be given chance to play more and more game of cricket ,it will surely help them to make a good team which can fetch world cup in 2007.

srinath needed for australia tour
by swaroop on May 24, 2003 01:21 PM

Sourav's right!India definitely needs SRI for the tour down under..Sri has allways performed well there
..Zaheer,Nehra needs more experience and minds to be in SRI's shoes..what95%Indians remember about Sri is his 0/87 against aus. in the world cup final..Zaheer had a econ. rate of 9.57 in that..so why debate over Sri's abilities at 33?he has done immense to Indian cricket..If he goes to Aus.,it'll be fantastic..if not then thanks to him for his credentials......
