Few thoughts on Tyson's training

It is good and bad to have someone like Frank Tyson to train the coaches in India. Here are the reasons:

1. Tyson has been making trips to Mumbai in the past to train pace bowlers. He might just continue that practice now. Being already familiar with the environment in general is good for India.

2. There is already a bowling professor who has been serving the nation for the last 10 years or so. His desciples have already gained entry to the national team. We are completely ignoring him because he is involved with a private academy. I'm talking about Dennis Lillee. BCCI would have saved on cost if it had authorized and used the services of MRF academy for this purpose. All it takes is skillfull negotiation and a decent contract with them.

3. I do not approve of the fact that Tyson will only coach the coaches and not the bowlers. This whole thing is like a scientific lab. You teach the coaches. But then you need to give the coaches some assignments and test them. Who are the tools to train on? the budding young bowlers. To ascertain if a coach has absorbed his training, it is important to teach and let him do his experiments in front of the master(Tyson).
