Gandhiji's influence on cricket too!
by Srikanth on May 29, 2003 12:30 AM  | Hide replies

Here we go again. Whatever ills we face we always have one standard person to blame upon, even if he is 50yrs/100yrs or maybe some centuries old. Be it cricket, cinema (Lagaan missed Oscars because of Gandhiji, one can claim) anything, my cat died because of Gandhiji as it followed ahimsa and did not defend itself! Keep whimpering like babies about Gandhiji and we will never improve. Thats sure. No wonder India is in this pitiable state. If we have nothing to do and no way to rise then bring others who HELPED US a lot down to our mean level. What selfishness! Some country like US has jingoistic attitude and we want to adopt their methods. We all want to be like to be Hitler by exterminating minorities in our own land. No wonder Pak has any problem of hiring spies in our country. What else, we vote people who are criminals and fanatics and on the top they criticise Gandhiji for all the current problems as if they themselves are saints. And some blind ignorant people beleive them even as dumb Americans believe the dumb Bush. To see this type of mail in a cricket article speaks volumes of our mentality.

shocking!

An autobiography of arguably the greatest player ever. An autobiography of a cricketer. But, going by your article, the book seem to be full of misspellings, especially of cricketers. Which indicates, to our agony, that both Sobers and the 'ghost' didn't bother to take the extra effort and verify the spellings. He didn`t even know how his fiance's (Anju) name is spelled. Or they just didn't bother. This attitude makes me wonder if they actually checked the dates of the matches that he was referring to, and was talking about. Shocking!

I'll buy his book for Indian names :)
by Shyam on May 23, 2003 12:02 AM

It's funny that the writer (not the author) didn't check the correct names. err....so many errors in names? :o ... and who's that guy who "never played test cricket" ??? Anyways, whatever is said in this book or not, Sobers was one of the best of the bunch.

PRAKASH SHARMA
About Sachin
by PRAKASH SHARMA on May 22, 2003 05:35 PM

Who ever felt bad about the non inclusion of Sachin in Sobers's Autobiography I tell you one thing it doesn't make any difference to the greatness of Sachin .We all know him as a genius. He will remain for ever.Just because one man didn't consider Sachin good enough why are you ignoring billions of other people around the world who regard him as a genius, greatest cricketer and the best batsman around.
