The australians are a fiercely competitive cricketing nation, they are also good students of cricketing history, for the current generation of australians are following the 'fine' tradition of verbal warfare set by the australian cricketers of yore.who can forget the likes of dennis lillie ,jeff thompson, et al who crossed the line of acceptable behaviour in order to the cricket battles.
One other thing that is of great concern is how the indian team has been demoralised. Ganguly and others have been banned for 4 onedayers for just appealing on the field while Shoaib Akhtar has been banned only for two matches for ball tampering. Also, no penalty was laid on McGrath for his sledging with Sarwan Ramesh.
It's good to hear an Australian expressing concern about their own player's behavior which never happened in Australian cricket history. Anybody who watched the Tri-Nation mathches played in Australia can say that Channel9 commentators & Umpires also kept mum when it comes to their own team. ICC should not stop here they should go ahead & take actions.
six indians get reprimanded for excessive appealing (?) in a test match in south africa, whereas australians have been going scot free the world over. they tend to make an issue out of everything they r not involved with..... to hell with them and their rules
when you have a team of Austrealia's calibre who has won 16 and 21 test's and ODI's back to back it is natural that they are arrogant, rude. i believe that the nagging comments over australia behavior is smply jealousy. in today scenario, do you have any team that can beat australia and win a series ??? the answer is a big NO? maybe india in india can do it, otherwise there is no one match australia.
Austrialians are the best in the game in all respects today which includes bating, bowling, fielding, planning and most importantly in fighting with the players on and off the ground. But it the ICC who should be blamed for this because there is not strict action taken on Austrailans,English and South African Teams no matter how widly and badly they behave on the parks. The fines and actions are confined to Indian Players only for the issues like excesive appealing.
ICC is just like a dashing dummy whose expences are on BCCI alonew.
its high time that ICC stop MCgrath from playing any more matches...he may be one of the greatest bowlers...but for sportsmanspirit his marks are subzero...its time he realize that other players are not hooligans unlike him..
