Honest Judge.
by Vasan on May 24, 2003 01:45 AM

Sir,

Sir. Micheal Holding is a Honest Judge and like some people still alive likes the game for the Spirit of the it. Not merely fanticsm.!!

This is a big hit for the Sri Lankan board which reacted badly for the claim on the action of Murali. Murali does have a very doubtful action and any team will and can raise a question against such doubts.

Being the seniors of the game it is their moral responsibility to correct these young cricketers who can prove very good in the long run.

As a simple saying we need to pick the weeds when they are young and did not spread.

I am sure that Murali, Akthar & Lee are the greatest chuckers and will remain in the seniority list. India if you remember also got into these issues with Rajesh Chauhan and Harbajan Singh But we very quick to setup corrective messures. And we can see were is Harbajhan today after all this changes as a much improved and complete bowler.

chuckers..

If Lawson is a chucker, then so are Lee, Aktar et. al. Daniel should have the courage to accept that Lee is also in that group. Well, chuckers are growing and if not controlled, we will be seeing only chuckers after some time and not bowlers. Moreover, it is really unfair to the other bowlers too as chuckers have a distinct wicket taking delivery.

Both Murali and lee chuck. Physical disability is not
an excuse. You can not let a blind man fly an aeroplane just because he has physical disability. If a guy with one leg wants to play cricket are they going to allow him a runner everytime he comes to bat or allow a substitute for him during fielding.

Both Lee and Shoaib chuck and they should come under the scanner again. If people with suspect action always get away with it then others will start doing the same to extract more pace or turn.

Why doesnt someone name those six 'chuckers' ??
by Jagan Vasantharao on May 18, 2003 04:12 AM

Its very clear that everything that the 'white guys' do is un-chucking, take cases of Brett Lee for ex.
this self same Venkatraghavan and Shepherd, though they officiated for so many matches watching Lee chuck and chuck ..they never reported. Its ridiculous! When will justice prevail?

Lawson's action
by Chandrashekhar on May 19, 2003 08:45 PM

You are right. Lawson had a good, clean action when he came to India. It's probably after his injury that his action has been degraded. Maybe he's unable to generate the same pace as before without chucking.

Brett Lee?
by Mahesh on May 17, 2003 09:43 PM

Brett Lee seems to be conspicuous by his absence in this article. Any comments, Mr. Laidlaw?

Sir,

It is not only Holding, but most of the other West Indian cricketers are honest. Unlike the players of the sub-continent and Australia, the West Indians behave decently on and off the field. They do not appeal un-ncessarily, putting pressure on the umpires. The belive in beating the opponents fairly and squarly.

These cricketers are very flamboyant. When they are on a song, they beat the opponents mercilessly, and when they lose, they lose it by a mile.

Yours sincerely,

R Babu
