What's wrong with our pitches?
by Kamlesh on May 20, 2003 03:32 PM

I believe that there's nothing wrong with most of our test center pitches, consider Mohali, Wankhede, Eden Gardens, Chinnaswamy, Chepauk. All are sporting which provide excellent seamer friendly on first 2 days and spinner friendly on last 2 days, good batsmen have scored runs on these pitches and we have also seen results.
The problems are with Ahmedabad, Kotla, Nagpur absolutely dusty pitches. It clearly shows that Pitches at centers which are not big international arena have poor or dusty pitches, sp start improving pitches which where ranji is played and start orienting your young players for faster and bouncier pitches.

Interesting Double Standards comments from Flemings.
by Saradhi on May 20, 2003 12:54 AM

Did anybody heard the comments of Flemings after their match against Srilanka on May19th?? He said " the pitch is rubbish and hard to play and he says NZ is able to defend 152 and SL failed to reach that target" and he says Onedays are batsmen game and need pitches who can produce 270 consistently.. What happeded to your comments when INdia Toured NZ mr.Fleming?????? You said the players should try to learn and play on different pitches and today you says the pitch is tubbish. If the pitch in SL yesterday is rubbish, what about the 7 pitches in NZ against India. what those pitches were callled?? Leave ur double standards and play the game in the tru spirit of the game.

cricket pitches

Test quality pitches that help seamers and spinners are needed even for first class/league matches. Board should spend more money for pitches with professional curators for each state.

Walk the Talk
by Dukool Pandya on May 17, 2003 12:34 PM

The bottom line is stop discussing and start preparing 'Sporting Pitches'. Everyone wants to say a word or two on the topic. Why not someone start preparing true pitches?

Pitches
by sagar on May 17, 2003 04:29 AM

Gentlemen,
I have been playing on the so called sportive pitches in England for the last two months. I tell u the ball doesnt bounce at all! If u r a batsman, u'll be lucky to get a bounce of more than 6 inches. They all say these are the beginning blues but, believe me it's worse than the worst Indian pitch I've ever seen.

RE:If the topic is about pitches, NZ cricket has not right to talk about pitches

WELL SAID MAHESH. If you want to destroy somebody, you will be destroyed first. thats what happeded in case of NZ in world Cup. God knows whose Coinfidence was shattered.
Coming to Pitches, why you want to loose your traditional advantage of Spinning tracks?? Why you need Fast and seeming tracks?? Why you want to copy and match to other's Strengths?? know ur strength and play according to ur strengths and dont bother about other teams' strengths. See how England, NZ, WI,SA or even AUS struggled in INdia?? Its natural that if you fit into the conditions you r against, everybody will struggle.... No problem if you cant adjust to the Bouncy pitches of AUS and who the hell One can say INdians cant adjust to the seeming and bouncing tracks?? Indians played and destroyed all fast bowlers like Bond, Akthar, Anderson, Caddick on the bouncy tracks of SA in the world Cup???????? Remember the shots of Shehwag and Sachin hitting the fast bolwers over the third man for sixers. The mind set is the problem and now indian team has the Right attitude to play on bouncy pitches now and we dont need to come out of our ow tradition of spin tracks.
