Instead of concentrating on the declining art of spin we should turn our attention to upgrade the domestic pitch qualities in order to help the pacers. Only the pacers are capable of winning test matches for us abroad, where of late the spinners have proved to be pedestrians, ineffective as if they are just going through the motions. By providing the pacers with quality fast tracks we can develop bowlers, who would give us the illusive away series win.

spinners panel

Hey all,
Mr. Dalmiya's obersvation is right. Theres is no quality in spin bowling now a days. But did any one ask why? I am in the US now but i am from madras originally. I was an avid follower of school cricket. I should say I was a fanatic of school cricket. This was in 94 in the under-13 inter schools championship there was this lean kid who took 7 for 26 in 1'st innings and 4 for some in the second bowling off spinners and won the man of the match. He was good no 6 bat and a terrific fielder. That kid played for tamilnadu u-13 the next year and after that never played even at city level. Through those years I followed him and every season he used to take at least 50 wickets in lower division leagues. Till today I have never seen anyone spin the ball like him. Where did he go wrong, turns out he had a coach from a different state who was not in favour with the great tamilndau selectors. So every year he was not even selected in the prelims. I recently visisted madras and ran into this kid, He doesnt play cricket no more. So no matter how many panels you setup you are going to get something out of it only if the people who run it are just. Lets see what comes out of this.
