Waugh rubbishes boring tag
by Anantha Kumar Rajamani on May 14, 2003 06:11 PM

The person, who coined the boring tag, wanted to draw media's attention towards himself/herself.
Australia have always been consistent in their performances on the field and that has well-and-truly made them the World Cup Champs for the second successive time. Also, because of their consistent performance, they are back on top of the World Test Rankings. Credit should go to the complete Aussie Team for having put up a stupendous show in the Carribean.

boring.....who????
by N.Sethuraman on May 14, 2003 03:58 PM

its unimaginable to hear that the aussies are branded as boring. anyone who thinks so must be the biggest bore of the mankind and must be someone who does not know anything abt the game of cricket. they (aussies) have been trend setters and play exciting stuff even in the longer versio of the game (test cricket). take a look at their test record of the last 5-6 years and you will see that very few test matches have ended in a draw and even if did, it was for reasons beyond their control, like rain. every test they play is with the motto to win and they do this successfully with the occassional lose here and there, call it a dead rubber syndrome. today every team wants to play like them and this is a testimony to the brand of cricket they play. all credit to steve waugh who took the aussie cricket to a great height and one wonders if anyone else can raise it further?

what next?

Australia Boring !!. What next..
Bill Gates, Boring!, bcos he too always seeks to win..
Sachin Tendulkar, Boring!, bcos his batting is too consistently good..
Amitabh Bachchan, Boring!, bcos his performance is always above the rest..

Lets celebrate those who strive for consistency at a level, which is seen as exceptional to most of the others. Before talking about reaching the stars, it would be enough if we could measure up to the above mentioned mere mortals.

Australia vs W.Indies Fourth Test
by R.Ramaprasad on May 14, 2003 01:11 PM

Australians have always proved that they are poor sportsman. It has been proved time and again. The latest on-the-field verbal confrontation between McGrath and Sarvan was another ugly incident. Aussies have grown as great performers in cricket. Wish they aso grow up to be a sportive side. Finding excuses for bad behaviour is a poor excuse.

The rest of the teams are boring
by Nikhil on May 14, 2003 12:34 PM

It is not the fault of the Aussies that most matches they play tend to be one-sided and hence boring. They are here to decimate the opposition and are doing a pretty good job of it.
It's the rest of the teams that are pathetic to watch because most of them are in the process of building up teams. Take the series in Lanka for example - Pak, NZ and SL have scores like 116, 120, 135, etc to their credit.
As of now, only Australia can boast of a classy cricket team who can give spectators their money's worth. India comes a distant second, and it is the best of the rest as the WC result shows.
ICC should concentrate on improving the domestic scenario in the top 8 countries before trying to get new countries to play cricket. I'd rather have only 8 good teams playing the aport of cricket rather than 16-20 mediocre ones.

austrialia is not a good team
by sushant a. chavande on May 14, 2003 12:20 PM

austlia is not agood team, there batting side highly depend upon pointing, hayden, and gilchrist, there batting is also weak againts a quality spin attack.
steve waugh has his dream to beat india in india, oi think it will be only his dream. they canno beat india in india, they also have a lack of quality spin bowler ,they will miss shane warne a lot in india, macguill is ok but not at level of shane warne,
but there fast bowling attack is a very good it
also depend on bret lee, macgrath and gillespi if one of them will be injured there balling aatck will also suffer, there fast bowler bold well on balling wicket,if they get a batting wicket to bowled they didnt bowled well

world champs
by sundar on May 14, 2003 06:42 PM

yah i agree with u.A good team is one which do not depend on individuals. But do u think that the aussies depend on individuals.Look they have won the world cup without warne, gillespie. They have won the first two tests without warne and mcrath. No martyn mind u.As per ur argument it depends on seven players.
A team depending on seven players is as good as anybody else.
Look at india. It depends only on sachin and dravid when playing abroad

windies will we super power in next 6 month
by sushant on May 14, 2003 12:05 PM

windies will be a great team in next 6 month, they have good bating attack, they can be destroy any balling aatack in the world they have superb bastmen like lara, sarwan , chanderpaul, gayle, jacob,
there fielding side is also ok,but in the balling department they are weak, dillon and lawson are ok
but they dont have a third seamer to support them and they dont have a quality spinner. if they got a third seamer and a spinner there side will become a more dangerous
