What abt Dharmani?
by Russ on May 12, 2003 07:09 PM

I'm not even sure if nyone talks abt Dharmani in selection circles anymore? We continue to use Dravid as a keeper, coz modern day cricket does not afford the luxury of having a specialist keeper... and yet we fail to spot a keeper who has made 800 odd runs in one domestic season. If I remember correctly, Dharmani was given just a few opportunities (only 1 international game, and a few tour matches) and then dismissed... I think its time for his recall, at least to the INDIA A team. If someone can post this view to the selectors I wud be grateful. (Ofcourse I have nothing against Parthiv Patel, but I think he is the future national keeper and needs some time to improve his batting. A couple of stints at the Adelaide academy shud do him good.) For now though, I would give Dharmani a fair shot at the national team's wicketkeeper-batsman slot.

At least going by the whims of selectors , if a. rayadu does not have any god fathers we can witness his talents only in Ranji Trophy.

Especially since he is from South , he will taken in the 14 and not given a chance and dumped unlike agarkar. want examples - s.ramesh, badani, sriram, balaji, of now possibly vvs laxman.

Cheers for Mumbai and its competitive spirit

It shows that cricket is a team sport and not individual brilliance. Keep going boys..... Non of the teams with good individual performance were there in the semi-final. Mumbai is the nurcessary of Indian cricket..no second thoughts on that

We are missing the point here. I searched for the names of the team which did the national duty whole of the year till world cup. None of the 14 names are there. should we not have a rule stipulating the national players to do the domestic duty . Also, if any of the names like Kanitkar,Gambhir Bahutale get half the no. of chances our Dinesh Mongia,Kaif get, where will they be. When is the justice going to be done?We have a faith in a certain player, and we keep on giving him chance no matter how many till he hits a half century and praise him to glory.Let this year be a different year of sorts.

Ridiculous to see Karnataka in 2nd division!!!
by Chaitanya on May 12, 2003 04:49 PM

Players like,Venkatesh Prasad, Sunil Joshi,V Bharadwaj,D Ganesh who represented India and players like J Arun Kumar, T Naidu,R Barrington who keeps performing excellently at the national level!! With a few talented youngsters jumping in, this team looks like strong contenders for the Ranaji trophy!! But the team is playing in 2nd division!!
Performance of the past 3 years should have been taken into consideration before grouping the teams into elite and plate divisions..!!!

yadav has to be the selector
by tom on May 12, 2003 06:42 PM

for rayadu to get a chance. like patel got a chance because of west zone selector. current selector for south is from karnatak and he wouldnot care for rayadu. performance in ranji is not considered otherwise wouldnot one give balaji a little bit more trail...or rayadu a chance ahead of patel who is yet to play ranji matches
