The world used to refer to "the ugly American"It,s rapidly changing to "the Ugly Australian"what with their record on and off the field in tennis cricket and the football codes .

Aussies (Sledgers) are the leading in every part of Cricket
by Vasan on May 13, 2003 03:32 AM

Aussies are no wonder a great team. But they are the greatest sledgers of all time. The Steve Waugh's Aussies Rewrote cricket with all the positive aspects of the Game. And also struck the Gentleman aspect of the Game.

I dont blame Lara. It must have been a proved incident. And Steve Waugh and his Aussie team must not be allowed to get away with this every time.

Remember the issue when Micheal Slater Was arguing with Rahul Dravid for a catch that he never took. No Fines nothing. for the incident. We must have a non partial Match Refree to really punish every incident.

The Aussies must be under the Watchful eye of the ICC and anymore such things must be punished thoroughly.

australian arrogance
by umesh on May 13, 2003 01:19 AM

if this is the way australians want to play for victory, they should be ashamed of their victories.nobody appreciates this sort of cricket.steve waugh should be held responsible for this.don't forget the recent episode in their domestic circuit where a match has to be called because of verbal abuse.its high time the australians change their code of conduct.this is bad for cricket.

st.waugh is real stupid and making all austrlians follow his steps. He is not all having sportsmanship.whoever say that steve waugh is having sports manship should know what that means exactly.
And these white skins less talented and cheaters getting great support from ICC Nepotist Malcolm. It should get a tight break.

Lara/Steve verbal war
by Rajesh on May 12, 2003 06:40 PM

I have never seen Lara involved in any type of such situation against aussies...Actually , Aussies can not bear the hits of Great Batsman like Lara..As Austrailia do not have single Batsman who is even 50% of Lara

it keeps the game going...

it was exciting to see the kind of stuff exhibited by the two greats. this is what test cricket is all about and this verbal battle between lara & steve waugh, darren lehmann, mat hayden (later while batting) was exhilirating to watch in an otherwise boring one-sided series. well if you are a man just face it and prove it you will not take things just like that. lara proved it by scoring a well made 68 and surely the great aussies would be appreciating this. without such duels, test cricket will be boring to watch and just a matter of caution, it should not get out of control.

The bloody boorish Ausies
by KV Ramana Rao on May 12, 2003 01:49 PM

I am not surpised at all. I have never seen Lara get involved in any kind of problems when he played Indians be it in India or in the West Indies. I have seen this always with the Aussies. Whenever the situation gets tight, they start behaving badly. They start sledging. They start throwing the ball on to the batsmen as if they are trying for a run-out. I still do not how Steve calls it mental disintegration.
If this kind of boorish, arrogant and thug-like behavior is what is called mental disintegration, then we all have to re-write our dictionaries thanks to Steve.

I saw it several times in India. I also wonder if the referees go to bloody sleep when the Auusies do all this.

Aussies are great players but the worst possible sports guys.

If only, it involved players from sub continent.
by 9tanks on May 12, 2003 01:28 PM

If only, the confrontation involved players from sub continent, then we would have known who gets censure and who doesnt. And about the pitches west indies better to something really fast since they are going to host the next world cup.
