Its time we adopt team national selection like Bridge. The winning team in Bridge represents India in International tournament supplemented by members from other teams to plug the weaknesses.
Since Cricket is also a team game, this strategy would work wonders for India in international cricket. It will also ensure that domestic cricket is well represented and players will give their best.
Now in this case, imagine Bombay team represents India in international tournaments supplemented by players like Ganguly, Dravid, Yuvraj, Sehwag etc. The basic team spirit would help in making a greater impact in performances.
I hope a national debate on this issue is taken up and pursued.
It is also good prformance by TN given the fact that they beat many good team in the race. Ramesh seems to eb getting back his rythm..hope he does more homework. Badani looks in very well touch with the bat. Hope selectors takes another look at him now.
I have been hoping for a Tamil Nadu win for the past 15 years and it just goes to prove they lack the temperament, as shown by performances from Ramesh and others who have played international cricket and yet cannot hold an innings together. this rate he can never hope to make a comeback
Congrats to Mumbai & TN for a very good finals. TN Played very well on day 1 & 2 but failed to capitalize a good start on day 3 morning. 75+ more runs in 1st innings for TN would have made a huge difference in the result. Mumbai picked up their game on day 3 in the morning and never looked back, played like professionals and won with ease. A few players stood out Jaffer - Agarkar - Badani - Bahutule and they should get a call to India XI for tests... India's Test Side should be... 1. Jaffer 2. Sehwag 3. Laxman 4. Sachin 5. Dravid (Captain) 6. Kaif 7. Parthiv 8. Harbhajan 9. Khan 10. Nehra 11. A.Salvi
Although Mumbai played well, I am of the firm opinion, that TN never believed in themselves. For a state where the average cricket watcher is perhaps the most knowledgeable, and whose cricket league is one of the most organized, winning Ranji Trophy only twice in over 50 years is a travesty. TN players are gutless, and just failed to rise to the occasion. Just the fact that Mumbai has won the Ranji 35 times, intimidated and overawed them. At 223 for 4, they had the ability to stick it into Bombay in the first innings - instead they capitulated miserably. Right then Mumbai knew that their opponents were a bunch of losers and promptly despatched them back to the Coom river. I too have been waiting for 20 years for TN to win Ranji Trophy in style, but barring a couple of lacklustre wins, more often than not, they have choked. As a Tamil, I just feel gutted once again.
Congrats mumbai!!! did it again. But no use giving chance to Badani or Jaffer as they develop cold feet at crucial moments in internationals as compared to Kaif and Yuvraj.
