was it really a promising start ???
by mukesh parashar on May 07, 2003 09:01 PM

Sir,
First i would like to thanks you for providing county coverage. Its really nice to see county coverage on rediff regularly, especially for me and my type of readers.
Now on topic, as i think Sehwag is not made for 23 runs and 33 delivery. He is a NAME for which such type of score doesn't suit. Its true that sehwag was tired but its not true that it was promising start. So please don't make rediff a tabloid. Our sincere greets are always with sehwag.

23 is promising start??

If at this level you say 23 is a promising start, there must be something seriously wrong. Please don't do tabloid journalism and put spin on everything.

23 as a promising start
by somdev sen on May 07, 2003 03:36 PM

Probably 23 is not the reason of the "promising start" in the report. I feel the promising start is all about Sehwag's staying at the crease for no less than 33 deliveries before gifting his wicket.

And anyway, Sehwag is the new idol in Indian cricket. Even if he scored 3, the report would have said, "Sehwag showed his class by leaving two vicious away-going deliveries before unfortunately slashing into third slip".

Sehwag sells, my friend. Get that into your head.

responsibility is everyone's burden

Sir,

I appreciate your attempt in bringing english county cricket news to enthusiasts like me. Especially about how Indians are doing on foreign soil.

I was really happy to know that Sehwag has been signed for Leicestershire. But, wasn't all that happy to know that he got out for 23 runs. Was all the more shocked to see that you report that to be a "promising" start. He has been a promising youngster for long now. It is better we expect him to play long innings and win matches for the teams he plays.

23 runs with 4 boundaries just shows that he was tired from his journey and he wanted to make whatever he could before catching a good sleep to overcome the jet lag. Please report facts as they are. Do not impose your (sometimes "promising") opinion on us! Please.

Being a faithful reader of all news on rediff.com, I hope this suggestion is taken seriosuly. I would like more news on Sehwag, Dravid and Srinath and what they are doing out in England.

Thank you for this opportunity to give you a feedback. Hope some action is taken on this.

Aditya.
