Everyone should be treated equal

It is an irony that Malcom Speed who is an Australian has decided to take severe action against teams boycotting world cup matches.Australia boycotted the world cup match against SriLanka in Srilanka fearing security reasons which resulted in a friendly match between India-Pak versus Srilanka. So shouldn't Australia also be kicked out of the tournament?

Its all ICC and what England wants
by Vijay on May 09, 2003 04:06 AM

aah... This was expected.. Mr.Speed now talks about throwing teams out, knowing fully well England will not boycott in West Indies edition of world cup. Why did he not say that in SA, knowing fully well before that teams will in boycott matches SA... Did he or not anyone in the ICC pnael know the phrase "throw out" before or was that word recently bought in the English langauage.

When will this gentleman's game be played in true spirits sans politics...

Why is nobody staring down on ICC or make them do things to the best interest of the game and not play silly politics.

Get tougher-Consider suggestions!
by Prof,SPSSubeamanian on May 05, 2003 08:41 PM

The just concluded version hold lessons for the next edition-why not consider views of the followers of the game too?
1)Be tougher with boycotts-make deterrent rules.
2)D/N matches-no semis or finals-
If on for reasons of revenue/otherwise-think of euitable distrbution.
3)DL/Jayadevans or spare a day-generate discussions-can call for viwes?
4)Blatent errors in umpiring-like wrong counting of balls, wrong signal for boundary/sixer,Wrong singal for a low catch/one taken at the fence-are some then can get help.(not pleading for too much
mechanisation!)-
5)12 teams may be ideal-no harm in the duration-SA had done well-
6)Very tough posture against drugs.
7)First 15 overs often had decided the matches! Why not look for alternatives.
8)There had been very sad sights of bowlers&batsmen dejected at the decision of the umpires-their reluctance to refer to the third umpire-Why not arm the bowler/batsmen the right to appeal for a third umpire verdict-(restricting such rights as not to spoil the very game)
9)LBW the most disputed decision-Looks better to be left to the umpires judgement-yet why not try to improve the situation?
10)Better have Men of the World Cup-A Bowler&A Batsman
