no future for indian cricket
by prabhakar m shetty on Mar 31, 2003 01:26 PM  | Hide replies

there is no future for inidian cricket. just by luck india reached finals in world cup. whole team depends on tendulkar.in lower catogary matches also yongsters are not doing well. all these things are due to influence and politics.we are very backward in bowling and fielding departments. we are not equal to the present world champions in any departments of gamethey play in the time of need. but india only play for thier personal records. i hope here we need to think of thier selfishness.

wake up and smell the coffee. Laxman's inconsistency resulted in his downfall.

by Pranshu Saxena on Mar 31, 2003 12:35 AM

Hi,

interesting that Malhotra had no comment for Amit Mishra the spinner with 30 wickets on the tour.

Is this a honest assessment?

The coach is from Haryana and I am not surprised that he has lavished praise on the likes of Gambhir,Chopra and Ratra who are all from the North Zone.

So the message is that replace Dinesh Mongia with one of these guys and do not try VVS Laxman at all.

Yes, this is an honest assesment. What has VVS done after scoring 281 against australia. And after his knee operation he is not the same player. What do you say of a guy who score just 120 runs in 11 innings even though he was a part of India team whey they toured West Indies. VVS is a liability now. Indian selectors should look ahead now.

I followd all the games. and coach's assesment

was correct.it is true that only openers did well.

AT Rayudu, did well initially but later he faded.

Among the bowlers both Amit and Salvi did weill

in fact Salvi after playing only 5 matches has

astonishig figures. Amit too was good.

I cant say there was any thing North-South bias in him.

Paul

Yeah! VVS Laxman's absence cost us in the worl cup too! The World Cup itself. The selection panel continues to be a bunch of jokers!.

With all due respect to Laxmans 284 against aussies, his batting in the recent months has at best been mediocre let alone his fielding. His omission from the WC was his own making...and the selectors are not be blamed for canning him.I dont think your very very special laxman would not have made any difference against the aussies in the final.

Ashok Malhotra is based in Calcutta. So, as you can understand it's not regional politics, but plain performance talk. Gambhir and Chopra played brilliantly.
