i must say that the players of yester years were more keen to perform than the new generation of players . today , it has become a money market . players like prasanna , who was considered as the best off-spinner in the world has given us the victories against australia and west indies . we should be grateful to him for guiding our youngsters .
I am glad that the reporter asked Prasanna about his strike-rate. Prasanna's response clearly showed that he is just another Indian ex-cricketeer with low self-esteem. I very much doubt his ability to think objectively. It is indeed unfortunate that he has a say in the administration of Indian cricket. Youngsters should be kept away from him lest they develop the low self-esteem he has.
An objective response to this question would have been to 1) say that Indian wickets were not dust-bowls when he was playing 2) say that the fielding standards today are superior 3) say that current batsmen are not that accomplished players of spin 4) say that 1 day cricket is making the batsmen less patient therefore more inclined to take risks and thus gift their wicket and so on OR agree that he is not as good as Harbhajan/Kumble and carry on with interview.
The response to the last question only shows what inflated ego these sports person have. It is partly media's fault also to constantly nourish these guys's ego since last 20 years or so..
Good job M D Riti !! Instead of buttering Prasanna you have asked him tough and honest questions...
Guy's this is a fantastic interview. I am really happy to see prasanna get LBW with the last question. We in India have a peculiar tendency of accepting everything old as gold and better than the present. I have seen a lot of test matches in the 70's and 80's and let me tell you the talk of the golden era in spin bowling is a myth - at that time there was no TV close up's to watch the movement of the ball and or Pace bowling was so pathetic that the spineer use to come within the first ten over of the match. So it was no wonder they were claiming all the wickets. The batsmen used to get out out of sheer boredom of the predictability of the bowling resources.
I dont understand your quality day by day is detoriating. What was the purpose behind the last question ? I think you guys really need to understand what is the purpose of the interview or an article. Is it just to fill space or their is a motive their?
