If white lines were proposed thinking that it will aid the umpires, then they should be implemented directly at international level. Rather than having the trial run of the white lines in domestic cricket it would be much better if the exercise would be conducted in the international arena. I think that with experienced umpires doing duty in the international matches there is a better chance of experimenting with the new idea and with ex-cricketers also serving as commentators nowadays could also comment on the issue first hand. If the practice of white lines fails to impress it can be discontinued at any time; but I feel doing things in the domestic circle is ridiculous, because the career of a cricketer is decided in international cricket and I think if we can provide help to the on field umpires then we should go ahead and do so with immediate effect. Rather than having a software like the Hawk eye it is more logical that white lines could serve the purpose. But one has to remember that LBWs depend on how high the ball is travelling, from how wide of the crease the ball has been delivered, etc., all these factors are best handled by umpires who are on the ICC's elite panel.
The day is not that far when someone will up with an idea of not having an umpire in international cricket matches and might think of making all the decisions by judging on replays !! Why not our famed cricketers be replaced with robots?
