England

Are better than New Zealand.
I think it is wring to put NZ above England. England beat the windies 3-0 away, NZ drew with SA at home , surely England deserve to be higher as per the ICC ratings.

ICC Ratings
by Shridhar on Jun 09, 2003 05:52 PM

Why do you get upset over ICC not taking a look at rediff's rating. Why do you get upset over ICC not achnowledging rediff's rating ?
When you know you have done a good job both Mathematically and logically you should not care for any other body's support except for your readers.

In fact you should make it so popular that ICC is forced to copy or emulate your ideas, especially when you have a extreemly huge following in our country and
the power that we hold in this arena.

Why are you wasting your time on finding bugs in their system ! Everybody knows how these bunch of Morons operate. I mean these are the same morons that
went to length to try and convince the world that Graeme Hick,Michael Vaughn,Mike Atherton,Mark Waugh etc... were better or equal to Sachin tendulkar !
Yes it took a long while (10K+ runs and 30+ 100's and 8-10 years ) before they realized the futility of their attempt. What happened thereafter is that nobody really cares especially in India what these morons say !

We need to have self belief in whatever we do ... otherwise we will always be looking for help from others !

So stop comparing yourself with ICC and ask them go scratch ....

Ratings far from ideal
by Ch V Kalyan on Jun 09, 2003 12:10 PM

Srinivasa.,

Good analysis., but i think ICC has missed the point again.
This is in reference to their ODI ranking (the basis for test rating!) .... South Africa remains at No 2 becase they were not penalised for not going to super six ... hence ICC rating considered the no. of matches for SA, Pak, WI to be 6 instead of 11 (3 Super six, Semi & final!) ... they should be given "Zero" points for not qualifying ... thus reducing their points !!!
if this was done (i tried) ... the ranking would have been AUS, SA, IND, SL, NZ, PAK, WI, ZIM (which i belive is the current order!)
since the test ranking is based on the above logic .. this flaw has been carried forward !!
I hope you noticed that regardless of many a results ... in the ODI ranking ... teams lose/gain ONLY 1 POINT for loss/gain in a match !!! so it is just addition/deletion of points ., something with a lot of needless maths thrown in !!
Please comment.,
Regards
Kalyan

What can be done now?
by Digambar on Jun 08, 2003 07:26 PM

It is true that whats up on Rediff and what correspondence Prem has done in personal capacity some time back is notable. It is further noted in this article that Jayadevan is not given oppurtunity to present his method!! Cant the Cricket Boards of the Test playing countries agree on what is better, not only for their teams but for the future of better cricket? Or cant our board write to the other boards to take up the issue?
I think, we cricket lovers, better take up the issue, through "Proper Chanel", under Mr. Prem Panicker & Mr. Bhogle's guidance. Please write back, not in any person's personal interest, but in the interest of the game!!
Three Cheers for Mr. Bhogale on taking up the issue and writing this eye opener for all Rediff- fans.

God bless ICC!!

Quite Right !

I agree with Mr. Bhogle. Rediff's ratings make more sense. But one thing I want to know is whether rediff has approached ICC to make their formula the official one.
