In all these years that I have seen Kumble bowl, I have never seen him turn the bowl even half as much as Warne or Murali can. He's a medium pacer in the guise of a spinner. Even Venkatesh Prasad's leg breaks turned more than Kumble's so-called 'spinning' deliveries. Most batsmen failed against him in the early years (mostly due to the unexpected pace), but now everyone's figured him out. He's done well in India's home matches with spin tracks and has been kept for so long in the team based on those performances. But on away games, he has been pathetic. Add to that his lack of athleticism, extremely poor fielding and his legendary run-outs with partner Srinath, and he should have been left out of the team ages ago. As of now, we have Bhajji who's ahead of Kumble on all three departments, so Kumble shouldn't even be figuring even in the extras.
India cannot beat New Zealand without Kumble. Look at our bench strength and there is nobody to replace Kumble. India very much need Kumble atleast at home. Abroad he can play ahead of Bhaji depending on the pitch. He is not even 32 and Ganguly has said he wants him for next World Cup. Then why the hell are people calling for his head, when his track record shows he is India's best bowler ever
When mumbai players can be many changes I do not see any reason why Kumble should not be given one more chance. The reason mumbai players are given chances in team is boz they do have god father.
For players from south india as whole and players from bangalore and chennia do not have god father in the board.
I think that Mr.Anil Kumble the legendry in the Indian cricket history, should now think of making way to youngsters. Because if he plays for the series against Newzeland, he will defenetely be amoung wickets. Then the selectors will select him for Australia tour also where he "CANNOT PERFORM well". So its good from Indian cricket point of veiw that some new young spinner along with Harbajan be taken who can be considered for Aussie tour as well.
