Lots good, some bad

Lara was once again an inspiration to team and country. Baugh has not shown enough keping-skill to warrant an end to the search for Jacobs' successor. Chanders was enigmatic and I see marking his return later this year with great things.
Samuels was by far my biggest disappointment; after his heroics last year, one never expected him to go so much off the boil.

This is Youngster's Series
by Saradhi on Jun 04, 2003 10:53 PM

WI is in the rebuilding stage. Again time and time tells us that Youngsters are the right pillars for any upcoming team and rebuilding team. Ramnaresh Sarwan,Devon Smith,Wavell Hinds,Chris Gayle did the things for West Indies.

But WI need to develop 2 or 3 good bowlers who can take wickets at regular intervals, otherwise their Batsmen cant win the games for them always.

Another load of rubbish. Not even worthy of a Z rating. I don't understand why rediff continue to keep him on his rolls. Journalists should not be biased like he is towards his countrymen.
How can he give D to Merv Dillon for taking 11 wickets at an average of 44 in 3 matches and give McGrath C+ for taking 3 wickets at 52 in 2 matches. If Dillon gets D then McGrath should get probably F- atleast.
Sarwan and Chanderpaul deserve at least an A-. Rememebr they were facing the best bowlers whereas AUstralians were not facing a top class attack. The batting averages of Australians have been skewed as most of them have played at least one undefeated innings.

Couldn't agree more. Daniel Laidlaw is a sensationalist than a journalist. His modus operandi is to write something that is expected to generate a negative reaction and then go on to justify his non-existent stance - so he now gets to write 2 articles instead of one. Pathetic display by Rediff in what is othewise a well-balanced editorial team. No wonder Mr Laidlaw isn't widely published here in Aus.

Wawell Hinds C+ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Shyamal Shah on Jun 04, 2003 10:28 PM  | Hide replies

A betsman responsible for last 2 wins for the national team gets C+!!!!!!!!! Agreed he wasn't a big hit but atleast he won last 2 matches for his team and played exceptionally well. He deserved atleast B if not more.
And about Mark Taylor's comparision of Ponting with Tendulkar, well, long way to go..Anyways every year since last 5 yrs we heae new batsman getting compared with Tendulkar for the best..but one side of the equation always remains same! Remember last year's Steve Waugh's comparision of Hayden with Tendulkar? (well infact he said former is even better than later!) ... see where he stands now! No one in the world has the consistency of Tendulkar and flair of Lara, as simple as that!

Yes!
No one can be compared with Lara & Sachin.
They both are icons in world cricket.
I don't know why ponting got A+ ranking and Lara got A & sarwan also deserves for A or A-.
