It's not about indian cricket but cricket

It's not about what indian cricket will gain from steve's retirement but what the cricket community will lose from his retirement. It's not about hating steve or getting rid of him but to respect for his hard work and mental toughness with which he has taken cricket to a new advanced level which his cricketing peers are finding it hard to keep pace with.

Steven waugh is a great captain after Late Hansie Cronje. I think waugh should retire after indian series.

why should steve waugh retire?
by koyal on Jun 02, 2003 10:25 PM

well i feel its really bad on the part of the Ex-players to say that steve waugh shouldnot play in the test match.I feel the only reason for this is that they cannot watch their countrymen to make a record for their country.Getting a 100 is everyones dream and it doesnot matter against which team it is coming as long as its against some test playing nation. If the persons feels that Bangladesh is not good enough team , then why it has been granted the status of Test playing nation? I personally feel that steve waugh shoudnt think of retiring

Thomson talks rubbish.Who is he to tell that steve shudn't paly & score tons against bangladesh.Would he bowled under-arms while playing Srilanka & zimbabwe those days not willing to take wickets against those minnows? Steve is still playing fine & let this competitive cricketer decide his career.Other jealous just shut up.

Steve Should Retire
by Saradhi on Jun 02, 2003 06:39 PM

Steve should retire but not for cricketing reasons. But for some other reasons which includes

1)his inability to control his teammates in sledging and other ugly areas. Steve havent tried to stop McGrath, Hayden, Langer, Bret LEe abusing other country team mates. He leads a bunch of sledgers who cant control his own team mates.
2) His age. If he is in the Australian team, the middle order looks very old with Matin(31), Lehman(33). If Mark waugh can be sacked from the test team, why cant Steve???
Where is the chance for Young Blood. You have two young cricketers like Andrew Symonds, Martin Love, Michale Clarke and some other youngsters are waiting in the wings to take themselves.

For cricket sake, steve should be removed from the captaincy and from the team itself.

Waugh should retire: Ex Players
by Colonel Satyanarayana on Jun 02, 2003 05:29 PM

It is felt that Steve Waugh should continue as Skipper and on the other hand give rest to Ponting, Adam Gilchrist,Hayden,Lee& McGrawth and bring in some young blood under Steeve . It is an unfair comment on Waugh " Who cares if Steeve scores a Hundred against Bangladesh ?" . Certainly a hundred will definitely add Feather in anybody's cap. In Steeve's case he is bringing credit to Australia by Scoring maximum Hundreds and who knows he may surpass the World record in the near future.
