Kapil Dev comment on Coaches
by Shivaprakash.H.S. on Jul 23, 2003 01:10 AM

I am really proud and deep gratitude towards Mr. Kapil Dev for his contribution to our Indian Cricket in Particular and our belowed country in wast.

But now a days his statement towards coaches is really worrysome. Why he is not understanding and acknowledging that with foreign coach (after his brief stint as Indian coach) our team has excelled to greater heights and performed as unit to reckon with.

What is the necessity for local language so much as a critical factor in sports training and coaching. What is more imporatnt is knowledge of the game and traning instinct.

If local language is the key and critical factor then Indian team should have more than 15 coaches for each player, as each player hails from different state which is having sepearte local language.

I don't understand when Kapil says "coaches should speak local language" ... Lets take for example Indain cricket team coach. Does he want our coach to speak Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi ...(and the list goes on) ????? Even Hindi is not spoken around all over India so how will local language help the whole team? Atleast we generally don't have problem like Pakistan team where a player can't understand/speak English. A very simple logic is "Good Communication" ...speak whatever language you want to but give results fullstop! And John Write knows it pretty well.
