Not withstanding the ratings given by the ICC to Indian cricket team the fact remains that India still has to prove its real strength and pull off a series victory abroad especially against the Australians and and mould themselves into a really an unbeatable team.
yes, I agree the Icc ratings are a joke. As an Australian I was dumfounded that we slipped from the top of the perch recently. My dumfoundment was not simply that we were toppled as number 1 but simply the opposition who toppled us. Shaun Pollock and his sooky la-la South African's didn't deserve to be number 1, on form.
I think an overhaul is required but am not sure how it can be done. One things for sure, South Africa are hopeless.
I think the ICC is tripping over their own feet in their haste to air thier foolishness. If getting to the world cup finals on a run of 8 consecutive victories does not ammount to a huge cluster of points, then what does?? I think the ICC needs to go back to school and take a class in Math (knowing about the members on the board, i'd think this would be too taxing a job).
Though the ratings are laughable to say the least, India cannot claim to be second best team in the world just because they were runners-up in the WC'03. If we rememeber, after we won the world cup in 1983, we lost to WI in a very tame manner and after that we lost many matches. So, we need to play more consistently instead of hyping ourselves before every tour and then saying that we under performed. Good luck for Indian cricket in the coming season.
ICC is just built to chop off India. They make money from the Indians and make fool of the Indians. We have either be habituated or to protest very strongly.
teams ratings given by icc seems to be rediculous. Indian team which has been successful in last year except newzealand tour has been placed in 8 th place. Last year indian team won no of tournment like natwest series in England, joint winner in miniworld cup runner up in world cup. ICC officials says that indians are inconsistent, if indians were inconsistent so what about Pakistan which is placed above india. There should be logical and accurate system rating should be applied so that correct and reasonable ratings can be depicted.
Well, the ratings seem to go hand in hand with other pigheaded stuff ICC has been up to (contract row et al.) ... About time some professionals took care of managing the ICC like an International Sports Governing Body, else I can only think of Mohinder Amarnath's comments vis-a-vis our ex-Selection committe... to modify in current parlance would be "ICC or a bunch of Jokers"
