I do not think the ICC will be implementing this anytime soon. In the mean time, we can do away with number of overs allowed per bowler and the fielding restrictions in one dayers. This will atleast will bring back some interest in the game.

This idea of club championship was originally mooted by somebody in Australia (perhaps Tim May). Please acknowledge that.

BTW Ritesh, if memory serves me right, Tim May talked about a league competition for the countries....on the lines of the NBA or the NFL...not a club competition.

Cheers
Suresh

Mr. Magotra might have very good intentions in what he is suggesting, but the plain truth is that this revolution, if it takes place, would destroy cricket as we know it.

I am a huge cricket fan, and no matter what the odds are, I will always support India. Even if the match turns out to be a one-sided event, I love seeing the Indian batsman blast the opposing bowlers and then our bowlers mesmerising the opposing batsmen. If the teams are split up with Indians on both teams, there won't be a sense of pride or fervor in supporting one team over the other. Cricket will loose it's passion. You might get more evenly matched teams, but I for one will probably not watch or care about half those matches because it isn't India vs. Someone .... it's just Someone vs. Someone with Indians distributed on both sides. The same is true with a lot of people ... they support their national teams because the players are from their HOME country ....not because they want fair matches with mixed nationality teams.

This revolution is a very bad idea.

You bet that this would be a swell idea. Having Bret Lee and sachin in the same team and against say mc grath lara et al is surely a mouth watering prospect. cricket indeed does need a revamp as once a great cricket buff, i now enjoy nba and soccer more. Hopefully , this dream of ours can be realized and Icc takes necessary actions.

Bhaiya Ashish,

what do you want? "take out a leaf ...football" easier said then done, buddy. by the way, many of the world cup matches were more exciting than the previous world cup. about the aussies being "head and shoulders" above, lets wait till the upcoming series. new zealand gave them a rough time recently and so did west indies. yes the world cup final was a dismal one but many others were not (natwest for eg.)

time has come for another revolution

I totally agree with the views of the author. It was
about 30 years ago that kerry packer revolution gave
a boost to cricket. It's time for another
revolution.

Well Said Ashish.
Cricket does require a revolution and it should follow Football.

But don't you think the ICC will turn a blind eye to these demands of we cricket lovers as they are still pursuing with the same format for ICC Championship to be held in England next summer which had received Brickbats in SL.

Only quality teams should be allowed to compete in world cup and the teams should play home and away and achieve results to be able to participate in World cup.

Their is a need for an uprising in cricket.
