An ill considered move
by Prashant on Jul 09, 2003 02:23 AM

I fully agree with Mr 'Nitwit' and others with similar views: Since the ban is not going to affect anybody what is all the 'hulla Gulla' about. Infact, the points in support of attacking cricket, put forward by Mr Faisal Shariff in form of quotes, stand, but donot contradict the thinking implied by the ban. Surely there is a lot of ground between the two!

Amazingly stupid!
by Vik on Jul 07, 2003 11:21 PM

I have no idea what or how the ban is going to help cricket in any way. You cant just force a bowler to give the ball more air. His frame of mind decides what he will bowl. So what does his mean? If the spin quartret were selectors, would they not have chosen Anil Kumble for all his success, just because he bowls flat ?? Thank god that didnt happen! We wouldn't have had so much joy in the last decade or so! Incredibly stupid of the board.
Instead of enforcing such crappy rules, the board and the concerned "legends" can do things like identifying good talent, and giving them good training with their actions, and not their mouths.
Forcing players to play in a particular fashion....ridiculous!

banning odi for u-17
by Saurav on Jul 06, 2003 08:37 AM

Mr. Faisal Sharif is perfectly right in his opinions. The BCCI is only going to go backwards with this sort of idiotic decisions. I fully support the views expressed in this article.

by Nitwit on Jul 06, 2003 06:25 AM

>>> In any case, here's a point to ponder. There is no under-15 and under-17 one-day tournament in the country today. So what is the ban all about?

So what it the article all about ?

banning one-days under 17
by srinivas on Jul 05, 2003 07:59 PM

Who cares whether one turns the ball or not? All we want is too see a exciting cricket. Its too harsh to ask youngsters to play only test cricket

What are u cribbing abt?
by Prabal on Jul 05, 2003 05:33 PM

Firstly, when there no OD's for U-15 and U-17. What are u cribbing abt Mr. Faisal. U have the chutzpah to question suggestions from Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandraskehar. Worst of all u like the suggestions of a novice like Rayudu. I suppose u r showing the legends in poor light. I am a die hard fan of Sachin Tendulkar. But i guess with all the attacking cricket.I suppose Tendulkar hasn't saved a TEST MATCH for india with dour batting esp. Abroad, Nor have i seen his attaking instincts win a test match in a La Lara or Richards mode.Don't u compare Hayden with Shastri. Shastri had some true mettle within himself, with only a talent for playing 2-3 strokes this man played some outstanding knocks esp Abroad. I remember him taking blows in his chest during India tour to Aus-91. I haven't got an idea how rediff employs people like u Faisal. There's a saying in any field, if u have strong foundation, then the adoptations will not be difficult for the different flavours. Whether in Maths, Physics or be it cricket, the foundation is the most important thing. And longer version of the game provides that. lastly, if someones good enough he will surely mould himself.

no more sachins and kamblis
by sanket karmarkar on Jul 05, 2003 10:09 AM

the recent move to ban all youngsters under 17 from playing in one day matches only goes to show the tactlessness of the idiosynchratic brains of the decision makers and the advisors.

the peoples likes and dislikes have changed.they love one day cricket more than test cricket.but i think mr.bedi thinks its still the sixties.gone those days, wake up..this is the 21 st centuary.this will only mar the rise of great one day players in india like sachin and kambli who could do what they could only because the started early.

the sick mentality of the decision makers must be censured and the decision rolled back with immediate effect.this is a perfect move otherwise to ruin the development of oneday cricket which got such a boost this year with india entering the world cup finals.

Uh!! What is the complaint about?
by Gowthamram Nallan on Jul 05, 2003 08:48 AM

Let me get this staight. BCCI bans the u-15 & u-17 tournaments that don't exist. And you guys don't accept it and so are complaining about a ban on tournaments that don't exist. You all should have something better to do, man!
