weired!

It seems a bit weired to me. Instead of stopping them from playing one day cricket they should have asked all the coaches to ask their spinners to flight the ball more. It's that culture that needs to be instilled instead of totally stopping them. On the flip side, this will rob the younger lot of learning ABCD of one-day cricket at early age. After all India is still a better one-day side than a test side. I don't think this ban is going to achieve anything but lack of knowledge in younger lot about one-day cricket and more difficulty for them in adopting to it once they come out to play one day cricket. Also, just forget about having second Sachin playing for India if this schema will stay in course for long. If this thing will continue we will be just like England team players - amateur even at the age of 23-24 , and playing their first international match!!!

No one dayers upto u-17 level

It would be unfortunate that in a bid to boost spin bowling there is blanket ban on one dayers upto u-17. It is strategic blunder.India's young brigade the back bone of the present one day team honed their skills at a young age. One dayers build up good fielding techniques, running between wickets, fitness levels. A balanced approach would have been more welcome. Any way a team does not include more than 3 spinners. Why put shackles at a tender, formative age. A better strategy perhaps would be to put onus on coaches to limit the exposure of spinners in one dayers during the fomative years, put them under the masters of spin at zonal academies and nuture them. Will the board now resort to preparing spinner friendly track preparation and nuture spinners and come up cropper when these younger bunch gets clobbered after graduating out of u-17 level. I think emotions, passion for spin bowling must have balanced approach in building any future team. Will we loose our focus on nuturing fast bowlers, Good fielders, Good batsman who excel against all types of bowling.

avoid mistakes of the past

The decision of BCCI that no one day cricket for U-17 guys is stupid. A player like Sachin tendulkar made his international debut at the age of 16. He has a healthy average in both forms of the game too. It is not the age that matters, but whether a player has the right talent and the right attitude. BCCI never seems to learn from its past mistakes. Why dont they make the pitches in India suited for pace bowling so that our players do not struggle when they tour over seas. As long as the team do not have world class pace bowlers, how can the batsmen get enough training to face fast bowling? Develop spin bowling, but not at the cost of over all effectiveness of the team.

Ranji trophy

All the reccomendations are ok, but I feel to make Ranji trophy more exciting and to get the best out of all the players , you have to make it compulsary for our national players, to take part in it, failing which their selection in the national side would get affected, this would mean less of international assignments which would be ok..
