India Team of Champions
by Ashvin Oza on Jul 03, 2003 11:14 AM

Played Baseball and Basketball in Los Angeles from High School, District and College and message you always get from coaches was:
"It not over till it is over"
"Games not over till the Fat Lady Sings"
"Winners find ways to win - Loser find ways to Lose"
These phrases always rang in my ears and still do, I believe that the Indian team need to have the same words ringing in their ears - they need to believe in themselves and the team. We could see and feel that during the World Cup and I hope that good Doctor work has helped them to perform to their ability.

Which I believe is par excellence, my baseball coach always told me that Never believe that the other player(s) or Team was better than us - always carry yourself with the air of confidence but eye on concentration.

I wish the Indian Team the best in 2003-2004 Season.

ho-hum! another one.........?
by Chatur Chaman Chooran on Jul 01, 2003 10:34 PM

Dear whoever-reads-this,

Whats with this series of inane articles on cricket?Quickly
cooked up in order to wean the reader away from possible
viewing of tennis or recourse to other online infotainment,
no doubt. Whats next, an interview with the chief
groundsman at Wankhede stadium, perhaps...or possibly
some n'th bozo/celebrity who has a few words of praise for
the batting-maestro/india's pride/living God Sachin
Tendulkar on the occassion of his having been awarded his
15th Corvette by the govt. of Maharashtra/some private
organization, with the sole purpose of massaging the
already over-inflated but dangerously fragile
ego and thereby expanding your own market?
Listen guv'nors, allowing lawn tennis to hog the limelight for
a spell isn't about to undermine cricket's popularity and
hence rediff's stake in the profits therein, don't worry. And
oh, its really good to see that the equally irritating (if not
more so) articles from your entertainment-cum-movies-cum-
models squad aren't appearing as frequently as they were a
short time earlier !!!!

It is the system
by Vijay on Jul 01, 2003 09:57 PM

The domestic cricket system in India for the last 15 years does not make it conducive for players representing the country. It would be really good for India to adopt a system of playing 4-5 team competion with all the players in the senior playing in the domestic competition. This gives a standard for evaluating new players. When a new player like Salvi or Murali Karthik comes to the Indian side they havet competed against Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly. That is why the newcomers are not tough. Our board sadly does not promote the domestic game inspite of all the money it has.
