Both English and westindies cricket is loosing its charm. its dieing..The boards of two countries should

There's always some element of 'nonsense' in every cricketing team in the world. May it be England, or Australia. England cricket team, like every other team can boast of having had formidable players in the past. Who can forget the glory when the team basked admist Gooch or Gower? Are Atherton and Stewart are part of this nonsense. Certainly not. The current situation just demands to be looked upon with a different positive attitude.

I wish our country was as rich as brits and those players playing first class cricket were atleast having income to feed their family in better way. One has to look at the aussie players. They also get so much money that they can easily satisfy themselves with that but instead they look at the game with pride and opportunity to do something for nation while for any English man game of cricket is just game of cricket they they play for fun and get some money, tour different countries, enjoy luxuries and have babes in both hands!

Peter has a fine way of putting things, which is both humorous and thoughtful. It is high time that English cricket authorities wake up to the reality staring at their faces and start implementing required changes in the set-up to produce international cricketers of good standing !!!!!!

Quite true

It is quite true that English cricketers of current era are aimless, good-for-nothing players. They do not play as a team. I think the media has hyped them everytime they hit a low. I think they should be compared with minnows like Cananda, Namibia, and Holland. Staying in Australia, I witnessed one of the worst VB series, where the performance of Sri Lanka was much better than England.

English cricket is full of nonsense

This is in response to the above named article. I am not sure about the exact reasons for the state of English cricket. According to me, the current players are not bad compared to many other teams (excluding Australia and SA). But it is definitely to do with their thinking.

Most english cricketers do not give any damn to playing in Indian subcontinent, and they give have the logic that they can skip the tours to subcontinent because "they would like to be fit and fresh for Australian or SA tours". This is really funny. even if we grant that playing in subcontinent is not a high priority for them, they loose valuable practice and when they go for their "real" matched in Aus or SA, they just don't know what to do.

It would be good if their players are some more committed.
regards

Nirmal

You have just spoken my mind !!..good one.

I totally agree that unless the English accept the fact that cricket exists beyond the "Ashes", they will continue to remain in the current sorry state. Every English player makes 2 debuts - the less important international cricket debut and the more important Ashes debut !! During the current Ashes series, how many times did we hear David Lloyd,Bob Willis & Co. mention the terms "Ashes debut",the "maiden Ashes hundred" and "the maiden Ashes wicket" !! Well, England can continue to brag about Botham,Gower and the famous Ashes series victory of 1981 - because, with the kind of bits-and-pieces,"nothing" cricketers, therez not much to look forward to in the world cup...for that matter in the next 20 years at least!!!
