Racism and attitude
by Kumar on Jan 22, 2003 09:48 AM

The Author of this article is true to the core. What bewilders to the circket viewrs from the part of the subcontinent is the lack of consistency from authorities that be, who run this game on all aspects. While the Lehman's issue has been delt with, there is still the growing divide between the Asia and the rest of the world in matters relating to cricket. For starters, ICC, one must say is a highly Immatured body, as it has failed in all the major decisions that it has taken recently. It could have been Contract row, and lack of consistency in enforcing descipline(Sehwag's controversy). The very unit that run's this game must understand that Asia is a powerhouse of the game and that some of the older institutions and players coming from those part of the world cannot have their own will, henceforth. This essential for the survival of the game.

absolutely disgraceful

much has been said and done about darren lehmann's behavior. but, ultimately, the most alarming fact is that, all these behavior arise wholly due to the fact that the aussies think that they are the demigods of cricket. talented though they are, the kind of head weight they possess would definitely not do them any good. just because one side is doing well, they can't boss around. we can see umpteen examples in the way mcgrath, warne and the likes conduct themselves on and off the field. it is a disgrace on this team and they don't deserve the respect they have at the moment. and the lesser told about the aussie audience, the better. they are a bunch of hypocrites and they better behave themselves in future games, or it is better not to allow audience participation in future matches in australia.

Lehmann's racist outburst
by T.Krishnan on Jan 22, 2003 08:14 AM

It is amazing how much sympathy and support Lehmann got from the Aussie cricket establishment. It seems that such racist remarks are quite common and Lehmann was unfortunate to have been caught. The argument that it is said in the heat of the moment is ridiculous, because only under those unguarded circumstances does one's real attitude is exposed. Evidently Lehmann's upbringing, education (or lack of it), background and all makes him think that skin colour is important and that being dark-skinned is a sin. It is also evident that other present and former Aussie players are of the same mould. And how hyprocritical and ironic it is for the underarm-famed Greg Chappell certifying to Lehmann's sportsmanship and fair play!

Lehmann's outburst was shameful
by Ramachandran on Jan 22, 2003 07:50 AM

It was such a shameful incident the poor Australians needed more grace from SL to forgive for what had happened. I think, that is the most fitting reply of all by taking these insults in its stride; may be that is what is encouraging 'these' people to take advantage and trying for lesser punishments and loopholes in the law.

It is not the first time for people of this kind needed more grace from the victims to approve their actions, in such a way, any human with sense of shame will never even think of doing it again.
