Is Australia a civilized country? Just banning a test player for 5 ODIs is not sufficient to solve the problem. Basically, when ICC does not follow the rules and laws, what do we expect from it? Will the ICC ban Australia from participating further cricket tests and ODIs? Does ICC have enough capacity to do so?
Once the dust settles over the matter, everyone wil be the wiser, especially Lehmann himself. I think branding someone a racist based on a single incident is harsh and unwarranted. Yes, there are deep rooted problems in white majority societies, but then so there are in the sub-continent and everywhere else. Lehmann's been served his just desserts and that should be that. The ICC should be commended for the action, but in calling for harsh punishments for such incidents, we would be trying to vent our frustrations at not being able to solve the larger societal issues.
Finally the ICC managed to muster up enough courage to ban an AUSSIE... We can only expect that such disciplinary measures would be extended to on-field SLEDGING, if ICC is really interested in cleaning up the game.
Hi all seeing his impeccable record backwards....this punishment is too much for him... It is an emotional outburst and he should not be punished that much to this extent of banning 5 matches...he can be banned say for 2 matches...
