As much as I want India to win, team India deserved to lose the match at Melbourne. The reasons are many. The omission of Murali Kartik and Balaji. Zaheer Khan, Tendulkar and Nehra proved to be mere passengers carrying the baggage of defeat written all over. Agarkar failed with the bat in both innings. Laxman can be forgiven, since he ran out of partners in the 1st innings. It remains to be seen how much longer India can afford to play with redundant players like Nehra and Tendulkar. I will not beleive that Tendulkar is indespensable for India, with his current mental attitude. Tendulkar has become a liabilty because he has turned into a virtual coward when he comes to bat. Nerves will not help even a tailender, let alone a batsman who is considered as equal to Bradman. Tendulkar is so scared these days that he is as good as out before he comes into bat. Another big question is, will Sehwag fail for many more innings before he scores another 100plus? India could have made a match out of it had they included Kartik and Balaji or Pathan instead of Zaheer and Nehra. As for Tendulkar, his place should have gone to Bangar, but Bangar is not even in the team. What a Shame!
we expected Gavaskar to impart batting techniques or atleast the art of survival to Nehra, Zahir, Kumble and to certain extent to Agarkar. What a waste, with dravid & Ganguly fighting like hell and then only to surrender tamely by the so called bowlers. If only sunny, my agemate had councelled/ trained these bowlers.Further the bowlers should learn to fight like Dravid & ganguly. I hold Kumble the main culprit. He gets upset so fast that he not only makes other bowlers go down the hill, but others sitting and watching thousand of miles away get equally upset looking to his body language. Sunny you can make Agarkar bat atleast like Bret Lee.
Not shocked by India's loss in the third! In fact it was the win at Adelaide that was shocking. Fortunately, shocks come infrequently enough, that most Indians can lead a stress-free life, decades at a time!
