India facing defeat in Test #3
by Madhav on Dec 30, 2003 01:27 AM

This is caused by Indian collapse on day 2. In the first innings most batsmen were irresponsible. Incl Sehwag. He threw his wicket after getting so many lives and runs. # 1 Team is the one which wins with consistance and not once in 22 years. Mr Ganguly wake up.

Congratulations, But!!(c
9. As a bowler the determination is there but the quality is missing wonder wether he is trying too many top spinners instead of the away spinners. and may be better of bowling just outside the off especially to hayden who sweeps any thing on off or middle force him to hit against what little spin he gets o the ball.Batting doesnt seem to be interested . but a 30 run each partnership from three or four tail enders makes a hundred more runs on the board or a hundred more runs of lead.
10 Zaheer Simple advise if you are not fit dont play !! dont be a liabilty to the team If uncertain wait .
11. Ashish Nehra . You are not in the team as a bowler alone there is something called fielding which also forms a part in winning matches . The worst fielder i have seen for many years and worse still seem to be not too botherd about it. I think he should be punoshed and not selected for the next test purely because his fielding is not upto scratch that should form a motivation to work on

Overall I FEEL that its only a matter of minor adjustments to the mentality of the team under various circumstances that this team lacks between were they are now and at the top

Congratulations , BUT !!contd
5 Ganguly contd ,
should have a bit more faith in the lower order, saw his head dropping at the fall of Dravid . Its time he believed that the team is playing for him and is always trying to support him. All he needed to do was to shield the tail when ever possible but otherwise not try to get out himself see what happend in the end the grown up 18 year old was left stranded scoring more runs than the openers and Laxman. If only Ganguly grew up to be a sensible 18 year old under the circumstance Ther lies true Professionalism.
6.Tendulkar No comments as he is in a rough patch.Ascrappy second innings but seems to be coming on to his own . But again seem to lack the concentration on the basis of the last short he played a ball which should have left alone.Same thing happend in the first innings.
7.Parthiv Patel .NO Comments keep the commitment up at all times.

Congratulations But!!! Contd!!
3 Dravid extremely good accepted and appreciated but 2 uncharachteristic shorts at 49 1st innings ??a loose short and on 92 2nd innigs good ball But its a new ball and since a few overs prior to this had been showings signs of unease, a dropped chance , a hit on the neck a few difficult low balls . May be should have taken a drink washed the face,a fresh gaurd and not played the short away from the body bit uncharachteristic.could cost the game.
4 Laxman a replica of first innings dismissal though a good ball should have learnt his lesson shows that little extra which makes thedifference between nearly there and true world champs.Again should admire and learn from RP
5 Ganguly as a batsman a rash short in the first innings I thought should use more of straight bat which he did in the second innings . Again should be able to change the game plan depending on circumstances. What we wanted was a long innings and not a flamboyant innings to set up a big score
As a cpatain need to use the part timers a bit more and should learn from steve waugh about field placements like the Simon Katich at the edge of the pitch in the second innings. a nuisance to ba

Congartulations ,But!!!
Well India has managed the unthinkable and worthly all Indians and lovers of Indian Cricket can rejoice while tyhe feeling lasts . But today we are back facing reality. One wonders why ? here are a few thoughts which crossedmy mind while watching the telecast late in the night starting at midnght in UK.
Firstly I am extremely happy with the teams performance so far but at the same time there are glaring unprofessionalism still amongst the mebers which I hope all of you who read this will agree .Let me begin with the openers.
1CHOPRA is doing his bits well but seem to loose concentration after a couple of hours and on two ocassions has been out on balls he normally can defend. JUST replay the period of his innings were he got out in the forties 47, 48 You will c wether I am right
2 Sehwag No complaints about his 195 or the short he played in the second innings but why does he consistently get away saying that "thats the way I play" Do you know Ricky Ponting? Bit more care in short selection depending on short selection especially since Dravid was out and the day was nearing an end in a matter of 60 or 70 balls

3rd TEST or ENDLESS TEST
by SANJAY MALIK on Dec 29, 2003 06:55 PM

I have already shared my views about game to be played in the sportman's spirit. But what is alarming the way Indian batting order collapse, it shows their level of concentration and performance when it is required most. No additional therapy would help other than self-motivation without any compromise and deviation i.e. the advertisement lure.

my question to ''harsha bhogle''
by imtiaz khan on Dec 29, 2003 05:44 PM

If some one like Ricky ponting, hayden can attack the bowlers n unsettle the bowlers n try to make so many runs at a very good strike rate. why can't the dravid n sourav can do the same

criticise the indian captain
by mohamed riyaz on Dec 29, 2003 04:26 PM

ganguly is not a right person as the captain of our indian team.he has no idea how to change bowling and when it should be.dravid has such a ability.
for 4 th test
1.ramesh
2.sewag
3.parthiv
4.dravid
5.sachin
6.laxman
7.sourav
8.agarkar
9.kumble
10.balaji
11.pathan.

for odi

1.parthiv
2.sewag
3.laxman
4.kaif
5.sachin
6.dravid (cap)
7.badani
8.pathan
9.agarkar
10.kumble
11.nehra
12.yuvraj
13.balaji

parthiv should be in upper order.then only we can get a skilled w.k/batsmen.we should not compel dravid.parthiv has an ability as well.he has no fear in his batting.
