What a magnificent article !! It reminded me of a couple of days ago when my cousin and I (in Perth) were having a go at our collegues, who themselves seem to be very arrogant. I would just like to share the last couple of sentences I sent to them,

"Reports just in, that the recent loss at adelaide (add to that the rugby world cup loss) has significantly affected the state of mind of the Aussie team and the supporters. The frustration is at its peak, after the brittle Gillespie brokedown for the zillionth time and is unavailable for the 3rd

test at melbourne. The Aussie selectors are even considering playing 10 specialist bowlers and 1 wicket-keeper batsmen, in order to do something

(anything) and get some Indian batsmen out for under 140. The Indian supporters should be wary of the lack of valid arguments or excuses available for the Aussies. It is therefore advised, to leave them alone and at least give them a chance."

Great work Mr Ranganathan. Keep them coming.

long nosed aussies
by pratheep on Dec 22, 2003 07:33 PM

hi everyone
the long nosed & lengthy tongued aussies need this sort of comments. do they have anything in them, cricket basics???? the name chucky was very very apt! they used to say we can prepare 3 teams that shall outplay other teams of the world when they were in the winning steak. now they are grumbling that they lack their bowling attack. what is this?? isnt it funny? it is always should b put in critics. i heatfully uplaud the author. each & every team is superior in their land. what the indians cant play on bouncy wickets?!!! can the aussies do a challenge at calcutta or chennai, the mightiest turning wickets!!!! they can never. our batsmen proved their class with having their basics right in adelaide. the long nosed and lengthy tongued aussies can never do that in india as they lack the fundas in them. they should try to win matches with their calibre not with the other teams mistakes. hulky told b4 the series that dravid and laxman were too weak at their off-side. what for his dismissal in the 1st inns of the 2nd test??? ooh! what a pathetic condition in he has been placed now!! i wonder at that 380. i feel lot that cricket has a fuuny record at its theory. hopefully looking for a 400 from an indian player to save cricket in the boxing day test.

aussies are any day the best
by ram on Dec 22, 2003 05:21 PM

It is too harsh to conclude from 1 test victory that the aussies are out. Dravid will not be scoring in all the matches nor will there be 300 run partnership . with lee back in action u can expect some real hot action and i don think indian's are going to do that well..........

let time decide if the era of aussie domination is over.

Sriram Ranga's recent article
by A V Mohan on Dec 22, 2003 03:04 PM

Dear Sriram,

While I am also one of the proud and happy Indians rejoicing the sweet victory in Adelaide, I think your article is in poor taste.

Australia has been a formidable team for a long time now albeit with their negative bahaviour. If Ganguly can claim that we are the second best team and people like you can write articles like this after just one victory, Australians have the right to be even more cocky.

I think it is best if all of us maintain a dignified silence and reserve our comments until the series is well and truly decided. Let us not forget that the world's best batsman (as some of us believe) got out to one of the ordinary "chalta Hai" deliveries from the second best leg spinner looking stupid.

Cheers

A V Mohan

What has happened to rediff?
by mahesh on Dec 22, 2003 01:35 PM

It seemed like a totally boring article to read, lost interest half way through and wondered what has happened to the quality of rediff's journalists

Dude you are amazing...:))

some brand of humour this, and doesn't hurt a bit as an Indian cricket fan. I personally liked the nicknames a lot, and i think "chucky" should be officially added to the name of the person it was meant for.

~2-0 Amen!
