Sri Lankan Cricket team has been consistent and successful in recent years. That speaks volumes for the organization of the game at the grass root level in the Emerald Islands. From the recent results one can see that the void created by the retirements of Roshan, Arjuna, Aravinda, Brendon and Gurusinghe has been smoothly filled by the youngsters and that too with great distinction. Sanath, Maravan, Hashan, Kalu, Murali, Vaas and Dharmasena have been initiating the youngsters well. What a phenomenal progress the boys have made after we first saw Tennekon, Wettimuny, Warnapura, Somachandra and Tony Opatha of the good old days. The present team has a mixture of everything. Known for their alert fielding, they have some top class batsmen, a high priest of left arm swing, an extraordinary spinner used to conducting regular processions of opposing batsmen with religious monotony and an all rounder who can single handedly win matches with his bowling or batting.
