It is high time for Gangs & men
by Dilip on Dec 17, 2003 08:00 AM

Is it not too early to celeberate this victory.
Beware that Lee n McGrath when they come back can be more than handful and mouthful for us.

I think it is just going overboard that our PM n Prez calling up n congradulating the team for this one test victory.Agreed that these guys need to be appriciated. But this is little too far.

Are we going to have a public holiday if India wins the series. We hope we can win.....

But remember Anju George who hasnot got the prize money for winning a medal in the International Athletic meet....

these is something missing in us...

Wait till the end of the series!
by Mayya on Dec 17, 2003 07:52 AM

Oh...Oh.....Please reserve your comments until Ganguly's gang has seen through the series. They need encouragement but your articles sounds like pampering that could give a taste of complacency. We still need some tough opening pair which we don't have. We still need someone who could for example tell Sehwag not throw his wicket as if there is something more interesting to do in the dressing room!

Stop including Tendulkar in the mix
by Mahesh on Dec 17, 2003 02:45 AM

This article makes some excellent commentary but I think it is high time we stop lauding Tendulkar even when he does not prove his mettle.

The statement in the article "There was never any doubt that Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and V V S Laxman would do their best to stop the Australian juggernaut in its tracks." holds true only for Dravid and Laxman. Please give credit only where its due.

Only wonder I have is

why Rediff didnt call on Australia for their arrogance and demeaning words, instead of echoing them in India bashing. Prem, Faisal, and You also have made negative and derogatory comments. If you were rightthen, then you are wrong now. And if you were wrong then, then the India deserves an apology from Rediff reporters and the Editor too. When you demean Indian team you demean 200 corores Indian. You may have slave mentality but we 200corores - 3 people dont.

Keep feet firmly on the ground!
by Kavin on Dec 17, 2003 01:08 AM

It was, doubtless, a truly magnificent victory for India. But one thing that stands out in the media, especially some writers such as this one, get carried out as if the series has already been won. This is not the first time this has happened. While it is fun to savour victory, it is, at the same time, vitally important to keep one's feet on the ground lest one should lose focus and get smacked.

High Time for Ganguly
by Gireesh on Dec 17, 2003 12:56 AM

Yes it is, but we can write all those big things after the series is over. Let us not say that Steve was arrogant. It was a part of his tactic as aussies always do exploit media tactic to its fullest. So let us give all credit to Indians for the way they have played till now, and at the same time give support to our Men In Blue for the waiting "Aussie Grit" for the next two tests. Winning any one of the next two tests(preferrably next one starting Boxing Day)means a series victory, and that too against attack not so handicapped since Lee & Mc Grath may play. So come on Dada come on!
