Tendlya
by GB on Dec 16, 2003 12:16 PM

Yeah Tendlya is the best for modelling, begging for tax waivers, wanting cars free, endorsing hotels, asking for free plots, getting free Amby Valley housing, amassing wealth, again asking for duty waivers, personal records, promoting pesticide-laden drinks, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc and et al. Hey, and cricket is time-pass.

it seems to be silly to compare sachin
by gandhi on Dec 15, 2003 07:15 PM

its highly silly to compare sachin with any of the rest.let any one answer the questions.how many batsman so been compared having such a expectation from such a number of people from back home and elsewhere.how many of them have been proving consistently.does sachin have any lean patch in terms of several months and years as others does.people who are saying this, particularly aussies shouldn't forget the test and oneday series in india and oneday series in sharajha.perhaps he may be the only batsman to play with 13 players(including the previous aussie tour and the present one and so on). this is real shame on the aussies.let all stop here

Tendulkar : The Best
by manish tillu on Dec 15, 2003 03:39 PM

No dout sachin is the best. See today he showed his skill in bowling. He has failed with bat in just 1 inning i.e. in this match but came back striking 2 important wickets. All others mentioned above are just pure batsman but sachin has made his presence with his bowling this time.I think next time he comes to bat you will see better sachin tendulkar and with a big century in front of his card.

Ramanthan
pseudo no. 1
by Ramanthan on Dec 15, 2003 03:27 PM

Dravid is the real no. one and sachin is the pseudo
no. 1. Dravid and Laxman (and at times Sourav too)
have come up with performances when needed most.
Perhaps, the criteria for choosing no. one should
include the `backs to the wall' type of `conditions'
and not just the no. of runs alone.

dipankar
he still is
by dipankar on Dec 15, 2003 03:23 PM

Against the potent aussie attack , it seems he is under a lot of pressure as if his belief in all the other indian batsmen performing is zero . He will defn perform in the matches to come , but yes his performance when most needed is never there . He will fight back i am very sure.

Sachin is the 3rd best on Indian team, forget the world !
by kim samson on Dec 15, 2003 09:59 AM  | Hide replies

Since Dravid came into the team, he has been the mainstay of the Indian batting. He is the most reliable (just two zeroes in 73 tests, probably a record), builds the biggest partnerships, has the ability to bat for days together (important in a 5-day test) and performs better than anyone else under pressure.
Sachin's tenure in the Indian team also coincides with the longest winless streak overseas. So all his personal milestones haven't made any difference to India. To those who say Indian batting revolves around Sachin, show me the last time his failure resulted in Indian loss or his century helped in a win. More often that not, it has been Dravid's success or failure that has determined India's fate.
I think Hayden, Lara and Dravid are the top three in the world right now, with Ponting, Vaughan, Graeme Smith, Gilchrist and Laxman close behind and Inzy and Sachin rounding off the top ten.
Compare the career milestones of Sachin, Rahul and Sunny and you will see there's very little to choose between them. Yet you never hear any praise of Rahul from the 'Mumbai Mafia'.
But we know better !

Excuse me but how many ODI's has Rahul Dravid Has won for India like those done by Sachin(eg.v/s Aus at Sharjah,v/s Pak at Wc}.How many tests has he single handedly changed the course of (like Sachin-v/s Aus at Chennai).Yes,Dravid is a very good player but to praise him don't degrade Sachin .Two failures (one caused by umpire)don't destroy greatness. So please give him a break.FORM is TEMPORARY BUT GREATNESS IS PERMANENT.

Isn't Sachin the best?
by Samrat on Dec 15, 2003 04:55 AM

There is something called the awe a batsman inspires in the opposition which is considered a measure a greatness? Bradman followed by Viv Richards followed by Sachin command that awe over the opposition.Lara,Jayasuriya,Hayden,Ponting they had it in patches, but Sachin has been able to do it throughout his career.Ponting and Hayden's exploits mentioned in the article have come against Bangladesh and Zimbawe and who can be more incosistent than Lara who said "Cricket is ruining my life"? Come on, give Sachin a break and your servers too from hosting such articles

Hayden is the best no doubt!
by Asher Pinto on Dec 15, 2003 03:38 AM

Here is why Hayden is the best!

Hayden is the best because, as you have shown, the statistics show that he has performed the BEST by far (except for Ricky Ponting whose record is just as good recently)

Hayden is the best because he has brutalized every opposition, in every country, and on ALL batting pitches all over the world (not just at home).

Hayden is the best because he has WON innumereable matches as a result of his batting for his country.

Hayden is the BEST BATSMAN IN THE WORLD!

Ricky Ponting is second best.

Lara is third.

Tendulkar only comes in fourth along with Smith of S. Africa.

This is ridiculous
by dheeban on Dec 15, 2003 01:39 AM

Tendulkar has been dismissed only once genuinely in this series and there is this talk surfacing again. I am saying give him a break. He won man of the series awards in both the ODI tournaments he played this year. There has never been a batsman as consistent as Tendulkar after playing 100 tests. He is the only captain to win a man of the series in a test series in Australia. He has never been out of form. If some one says that not prefoming in three or four test matches is out of form, then he should be really crazy. I do accept there are times when he has not performed to "his" level. But that does not make him a player in poor form. Even when he struggled, he scored a fifty in the home series against Newzealand. Even in Newzealand, he scored a fifty. I think there is some needles harping a bit too much about Tendulkar. His last dismissal has nothing to do with the bowler or the pitch. He just did not execute the shot properly. 999 times out 1000 he would have hit it for a cover drive four. There is no point in looking too much into that. One should not forget that he played just one poor shot and some crazy people are all over him. I am sure he would let his bat answer those.
