Selection of a team will have to happen before the series starts. Y dont the selectors understand that it is human for someone to take some time to get adjusted to the new abmience. Same will be the case with Kartik or any other person. U cannot expect him to start picking up wickets in his first outing itself. Touch wood if he does not perform well, his cricketing career can be in jeopardy(history of our BCCI is an example for this). I am not against Kartik nor am I a supporter of Bajji. If kartik is the best man for the job in the country, he should have been selected for the series in the first place. I hope the selectors have their heads in place when they do their job in future. I am proud about my last comment,when the team was announced, and I had written then that the selection board in India has never been clear and confident of their selection atleast when it comes to Australian tour. Just to refresh I had stated then that in one of the tours the selection board had to ask veteran Vengsarkar to join the squad in a bid to help the team salvage pride in the final stages of a miserable series and I also mentioned then that keeping that in mind, Kartik could well be included at a later stage. Fortunately the think tank has thought about this a bit early when India are placed in a reasonably good position and that shows for a change the selection team is just not looking to be content by salvaging pride.
It is a good decision by the board to include Anil Kumble in place of Ashish Nehra. Because inexperinced always fails to produce result. And of course inclusion of Karthik is also a good decision because Harbajan seems to be not in good form and need time to concentrate on his bowling in order to be successful.
