It works in all areas
by bharat on Dec 04, 2003 06:04 PM

Its cricket where we can see the difference but it could be seen in our day to day transaction where your realtion with your boss or your neighbor or connection with some political party makes difference not your work or your clear image about work.

No right attitude
by Senthil on Dec 04, 2003 02:02 PM

Our playing 11 might be in right attitude, but these 11 were not selected with right attitute. Until this happens, there is no win forever. Until we get bowlers with 30 s/r we wont win matches. I feel a computer could select a better 11 than our selectors did.

But, still I am an indian, passionate to cricket. So, all the best ganguly and boys.

Ramesh's omission is inexplicable
by Kamal Das on Dec 04, 2003 11:18 AM

It is truly surprising that the Indian Management decided to rest the best opener in the tour-Ramesh.

It is sad to see that reputation is given precedence over performance. This mind set has to change is India are to win or at least give a fight in the series.

The BEST eleven should be picked at all time, not the most reputed ones. Even Sachin and Saurav should be prepared to give up their slots if their performance is not up to the mark.

Games are not won by reputations of the players but their performance. God alone knows when the Indian Team Managemant will realise this

Three mistakes
by Praveen on Dec 04, 2003 10:16 AM

The indians should have opted to bat first and they should have also to make ramesh open the batting along with chopra (who is a consolation- atleast) and make the out of form sehwag to sit out or atleast make him to go in as the 5th down. Also indians have already done themselves a sea of good by neglecting karthik and also they should have taken yuveraj who has the capability to handle pace well.

I dont know also why they opted to bowl for the first match when they have a horrible bowling line up in the world.
god knows what is going on in the mind of ganguly.

After making a series of mistakes before the first ball is bowled, how can we expect sachin, vvs, laxman to carry the burden of billions of people in their shoulders?

it is high time that the BCCI is replaced by full time professional CEOs and it is time to professionalize the board and make them responsible for the actions and performances of the team not only in indian soil (which is already very bad) but also abroad.

Dropping of Ramesh
by Mohan on Dec 04, 2003 09:33 AM

It is outrageous! The decision to drop Ramesh has no freaking logic and wheneve I see these things happening, it makes me wonder why I follow Indian cricket with such passion.

worst selected team
by bhushan on Dec 04, 2003 08:56 AM

This is the worst selection I have yet to see. What was Ganguly thinking? What was Mr. Wright thinkig? And was he not an opening batsman?
If Sehwag is such an explosive batsman and needs to be there, then we have following options:
1. Drop Dravid/Tendulkar/Ganguly/Laxman
2. Drop Sehwag
3. Send Agarkar/Patel/Dasgupta as an opener
4. Send Sehwag as an opener.
Guess what.... Stupid as they come.
If India does not think opening pair is important, it has no business of playing test cricket.

What was the basis for Ramesh's exclusion? He does not get along with Ganguly? Sheer stupidity.

If Chopra needs to be there then Sehwag has to sit out. Hey ask Dravid to keep wickets. May be that will work.

Whats Harbhajan doing in the team? I dont know. Once in India he took lots of wickets. I think India plays to Waugh's tunes. Waugh said we are concerned of Harbhajan. I bet that was a ploy and it worked.

If Ganguly does not like Kumble then why is he there?
I think Kumble may be old but currently better than Harbhajan. We should have played 2 spinners. Watch Mr. Agarkar and Zaheer Khan scoring 100 runs each for the opposition. We should play 2 spinners

WE dont have a plan.

living in the past
by Sairam Rajagopal on Dec 04, 2003 08:48 AM

the indian team has suffered time and time again bcos of their tendency to live in the past. basking in past glory , suppressing new talent at the cost of prolonging careers, ...totally unexplicable selections continue to plague our development.
i cannot but concur with faisal , when will the indian team learn its lesson.

Defending Sovrav's Decision
by Rahul on Dec 04, 2003 08:40 AM

The writers criticism of ganguly on deciding to bowl only indicates the stupidity of the writer.

The plain fact is .. if the conditions are good for bowling then what would anyone do ? Bowl .. right ??
Doesnt matter what kind of bowling attack we have or whether those guys will pick wickets or not .. if the conditions are good for bowling one has to choose to bowl.

I think our Indian media should learn a thing or two from the Australians. The media there helps the Cricket Team to develop a negative mindset in the touring even before the first ball of the series is bowled. And look at our media .. it is always looking for faults with our cricket. be it team selection, be it policies or be it anything. At the same time if the team returns victorious then they dont stop praising the cricketers !!

We need a change .. dont we ?!?!?

Rahul.
