Indian bowlers' disappointing performance didn't come as a surprise or shock; it was expected. In this column ("share your comments"), I expect the usual comments by the fanatics who blindly support Indian team, lashing out their "rage" at people like me for criticizing. Well, most of the Indian cricket fans are the proverbial "guys who like anything." Guys, you are spoiling the game by your unsolicited, undeserving attention given to the players. Once again, and not after a long interval, we see the cataclysm unveil again - another bad performance by the Indian team.
BCCI has to do a soul-search about the way the players are selected. Ganguly, a fine player, isn't a tactful captain. The deplorable fact is that he and most of his henchmen keep repeating the same mistakes. They never seem to learn from their experience.
A mighty nation with a population of a hundred crores can't get a mere 11 quality players on the team? I don't believe our players lack talent or that there's a shortage of talent in the country. This system has to change. We want a team of dedicated players. We want a team of shrewd selectors. We want a nation of sensible cricket fans.
The team composition for the first test in Brisbane is the worst in recent years.
Ganguly, wants to prove that Harbajan Singh is worls class Bowler and his selection ahead of Karthik is correst. But except the three test match at home singh has never spun a match for India.
It's highly dissapponting to see Ramesh sitting out after his good performance in Tour matches. Indians can win matches in abroad only if they select players based on performance.
If India loses this match and series the persons to be blamed are captain and Selectors.
Even Don quixote cannot beat our selectors in acting whimsically. Ramesh has been dropped as he has not converted his 40's and 50's to centuries. But the same yardstick has not been applied to Sehwag and Chopra. Conveniently, they gave opportunity to Akash Chopra in dead pitches of India so that they can select him for Australia. Now his true worth is known. Siddhu speaks at length about Kumble's percformance abroad but mum is the word when he speaks about Harbajan Singh's performance abroad. Perhaps the sponsors pay for these unworthy players.
Winning the Toss and not batting first is a sign of being NOT POSITIVE. We gave the advantage to Aussies to take the initial control. We are stronger in batting and hence it is better to test our strength first than our weakness.
Ramesh non presence in the team is as shocking as Sehwag and Chopra in the team.Ganguly should himself seen his position during the two practice matches which were more of like parcticing different ways of getting out, even in that scenario of falling wickets Ramesh showed his survival .His non presence in the team is really shocking..
Yes I agree with your opinion about dropping of S. Ramesh from 1st Test at Brisbane. This is not a first time, always this is happened to players belongs to south india.
Each of the 5 bowlers started with casual way.Every one conceded a 4 in the very first over. Ganguly bowling as 5 th bowlers tells the moral of the TEAM spririt. He has not bowled in few years. If weather permits 3 days play at brisbane India will loose by innings after following on. These guys are not qualified to play a 3 lelevl aussie team.
