Sachin is the best batsman in the world.
by Ajay Baderdinni on Dec 10, 2003 04:02 PM

No doubt about the fact that sachin is the best batsman in the world. many people use to compare sachin with not only a single player but a bunch of players like, lara, steve waugh, math hayden etc. that should not be the case when you are finding the best batsman in the world. comparing sachin with many good player itself will proove him as the best batsman in the world. dont you think there is a logic in this?

is there any problem between tendulkar & ganguly
by Ghanshyam Rai on Dec 08, 2003 03:15 PM

Im think there is some ego problem between tendulkar and ganguly, thats why sachin don't want to win matches in his captaincy, otherwise, there is no problem with him in scoring runs in important matches like finals.

Dear Sir,
I think You have completly forgoten about the two astonshing hundreds against Australians at sharjah(the one in the finals was a match winning one.& the final over against SA during Hero Cup 1993.& 126 against Pakistan under severe pain.(I had seen many indian staying out the playing for silly injuries.) And it was not sachins fault that we lost 5 wickets for 15 runs.

my perspective
by rahul on Dec 05, 2003 10:22 AM

My perspective about Sachin's efforts are slightly different.

1) The same Ponting has failed on countless important occasions. Pl. recall his last indian tour. :)
2) If the rest of the indian team could muster a few more runs/wickets, Saching could have had atleast a few of his innings in the Top 100 list of Wisden. His innings of 120 and odd against Pak in Chennai immediately comes to my mind.
3) There are definitely a lot of his one day match winning innings. and they came when they mattered. His innings against Aus at Sharjah.

A more realistic way of comparing could be to list the number of times a batsman was needed to play an important innings, and how many times he succeeded.

For sachin, the percentage would be as good as any other great. Any stats on that pl. enlighten us.

sachin seeks that missing sign

I do agree with Wasim that Sachin is no more a match winning player. It seems he is not playing to his full potentials and tends to throw his wicket when it is needed the most. He has everything a best cricketer needs to have but also has the burden to carry the entire team on his shoulders. If he is permitted to play his natural game without any strings attached, he will incomparable. He has this series to show his position in the world reckoning.

Sachin seeks that missing signature

i feel very strong about the write up regarding the Subject. i think we all should stop blaming the best batsman in the world for not doing the right things on the right time. a team wins by not just individual efforts.
but, this individual always puts in his best to make us win. we all have a very short and selective memory (dislexia) as we very easily forget the times when India wins just because of this little champion. the problem lies that we expect a lot more from him (b'coz of his capabilities) and when he does not delivers the expected, he is always being blamed.
lets face the truth, yaar he is the BEST in the world and he cannot deliver everytime we want him to.
he is not missing anything but the right appreciation. every cricketer mentioned in the write up has just one match achievement but Sachin achieves everytime he is out in the middle.
just put your hands on your heart and ask yourself does not your heart pounds badly when he comes out to bat, does not your hands go on to clap when he hits for a 4 or a 6, do not you feel hurt when he is hurt, do not u feel like wishing him on his every achievement and above all is he not there in your daily prayers.

Sachin lacks the patience to play test innings
by Tanvi on Dec 04, 2003 02:13 PM  | Hide replies

I think that Sachin has the talent not the patience to play a test innings. He has made 6 test centuries against australia but none of them are match winning innings. Because when he does play he doesn't get the support from his team mates.

hmmmmmmmmmm, i am still waiting to see our media rallying for our team...
Here r few stats:
Yes India hasn't won a test series abroad but in contrast India has lost only one test series for over 15years at home... How many teams can be proud of it???
Few Indian players cannot play on bouncy pitches true but how many years did New Zealand team players need to score a century on Indian soil?
When any team visits Australia, their whole media and players (incl. Umpires if everyones memory of the last Test series against Aus at Aus) are against the opponenets team. But advantage is to Aus b'coz when they tour India, our whole media goes ga ga about the Aussie's ability. Instead why don't they concentrate on their weekness??? (even if they don't have one)
I support the media coverage of BCCI and its handling of various functions like selection of players or fixing tours etc... but it is responsibility of Indian media to support Indian teams be it hockey or cricket or ....
