What a pity!!! In Indian cricket some players like Sehwag, immaterial how long their lean patch is never find themselves out of XI. It's amazing how he is there in one day as well as in the longer version of the game.
On the other hand there are players like Ramesh or Jaffer for that matter whose one failure in Englandh made him out of the XI for such a long time. He is much accomplished opening batsman than Sehwag but then....
Sehwag's flashing are not going to work against the world class attack of Australia but no problem...Sehwag..keep flashing...keep playing a test match as a one-day...you will remain in the team forever. Ramesh..Jaffer...keep scoring runs against all odds but you will remain outside XI.
Here is my way of tackling the Ausis.. We know we cannot win.... We know we cannot take 20 wickets with our current bowlers. WHY not play 11 batsmen and play out the matches to a draw?????????? then ask Sachin, Ganguly, Sewhag and others to bowl... we might have a better chance at having a good tour... Think about it.... KEEP ON BATTING?????????? Comments????
Since opening is a worry & it is nearly impossible to find the right person to open right now. I think we should take a risk & either promot Ajit Agarkar or Parthive Patel as openers & mind you it should be done consistently they should be given 10 to 15 test matches as openers & by doing this what we would have done is that we will create a quality opener rather than finding one. The catch in my saying is that we should chose such an player who is a certain to play 10 to 15 test matches as bowler or keeper & impotrantly has descent tecknique. We can even try irfan pathan but, we are not sure how her will perform he has pottential, but these Australians wount lose a chance to thrash us into pulp. I believe creat two good openers rather than finding a specialist opener. Very very imp play 5 bolers.
