More, More!

Jaywant Lele's memoirs would be the most awaited book about cricket, if and when it is announced. It can never come out too soon, given the state of affairs we have. Mr. Lele has said in this interview what everyone knew but wanted a confirmation of: Indian cricket is run as a personal fiefdom by Jagmohan Dalmiya - a man given to such a culture. He and his cronies are poisoning the game in India. The question that newspersons should ask of our cricket stars is when are they going to break away from this Tammany Hall of a control board, and create their own players union. If they don't do it soon, all, including the famed Tendulkar, will be responsible and eventually hated by their peers and their fans. Newspersons should short-circuit their coverage of cricket events in this country by boycotting the board personnel, and telling the players to 'Act Now'!

Lele's comments
by R SUGUMAR KAMU on Dec 03, 2003 10:20 AM

Lele's comments on Indian cricketers and administrators are very truth. He is an outspoken and predicts the outcome exactly. Every cricket lover knows that Murali Karthik is overlooked. The selection should be on the basis of performance, not on experience. We are going to play with World Champion and they are very good against fast bowlers. Selectors should have selected one more spinner, in that case Murli Karthik. Lele aptly said we should have three spinners and three phasers in the list. His comments "Kale might have asked the selectors why he has not been selected even after performig well in domestic as well as internationl matches and the Selectors might have asked him to pay Rs. 10 lacs" reveals the existence of corruption in team selection.

Interview of Mr. Lele
by Vikas on Dec 03, 2003 09:48 AM

The question here is do we need to give ear to such unwanted outbursts of Mr. Lele.
Instead of backing up the team , which is embarking on a tough tour, he his rather discouraging them.
I hope some good sense prevails and he starts backing up the team by encouraging them.

I do agree with Mr. Lele.

There is corruption in every level in cricket and this known fact that all selectors making money and select two or three of there choice

Well, why don't people come out with facts when they know, rather than wait for an occasion? and to name Mongia even if it was an example is horrendous. You just can't take people's names in this kind of situations. I won't be surprised if Mongia loses his patience and threatens to sue Lele.
Anyways I don't have a great opinion on Mr Lele himself

Thank you Mr Lele

The whole world knows that Mr Dalmia and may be his predecessors ,why not even the whole BCCI management over the last 15 years would have plenty of skeletons to hide..
Mr Mohinder Amarnath was right, when he called the Indian selectors, ' a bunch of jokers' a decade ago.
Some people might forget that, but not all people..
Its high time, judiciary should involve in the functioning of BCCI..

Lele speak!
by KK on Dec 03, 2003 02:40 AM

Great interview! But still the fact of the matter is that Lele is probably one person in the whole corrupt BCCI machinery who speaks the truth :-)

I think he was quite straightforward in all his talk and I find that he is more kindly disposed to players than any other honco, ex or present, of the BCCI. The scoreline seems to be more modest this time according to him, but he doesn't seem to have learnt a lesson from his previous experiences in this same area.

Thanks for a fun interview, we need it now and then, Faisal!
