Manjrekar's article

Less said about these cricketers from Mumbai who do not give a damn about anybody or anything else except themselves, the better... First we had Tendulkar trying to duck out of a few rupees (to him, that is) he owes to the government, now we have this guys who sprouts his wisdom about playing Pakistan less than a week after Pakistan-trained terrorists kill about 100 people in his City with bomb blasts.. God help India from these Mumbaikar cricketers...

This man has really gone out of brains. The Pakistanies are hurting and killing Indians every day and he thinks of starting cricketing ties with Pakistan. Its just not matter of playing cricket one has an objection. The point is wherever India plays it generates a very large proportion of revenue.Playing with Pakistan gives them an opportuniy to generate big money which shall only be used in their hopeless jaihad against India. It will be foolish to provide them with such an opportunity...and yes if you believe that cricket and politics shouldn't mix ...then my view it can't be separated.Everything connected with Pakistan is not acceptable.

No Ties with Pakistan
by Siddharth on Aug 31, 2003 06:15 AM

Mr Manjrekar, first of all u should understand that why cricketing ties has been severed and then comment about it. Yes, i agree cricket is just a game, but when it comes to a match between India and Pakistan it is nothing but a war, where people die and seriously people die in the side which looses. But that is not the issue, the issue is: First of all Pakistan stops all cross border terrorism, and then there should be any cricketing ties. Don't u read newspaper... close to 70,000 innocent people have been murdered in Kashmir only, add up all the other bomb blasts, suicide attacks in other cities in our country and u still think that we should play with them... You are seeking entertainment by playing with the country which is killing our own people... how can u even think about it. NO Not untill they mend their ways. I would rather opine that we should severe all other ties also. No sporting events, political discussions or anything should be allowed with that country.

Jai Hind.

keeping cricket away from politics
by srinivas on Aug 31, 2003 04:26 AM

I guess the sports idols should first start differenciating between politics and terrorism. You wanna play cricket bcoz its good from the game, and you are not worried about people loosing their lives because of terrorism, because you dont know them.

How is this acceptable by any standards?

Being sports idols, they should have the responsibility towards the nation as well (after all, all the fame and money is given by the nation) and not get carried away by their opposite numbers from pakistan. What is happening to us.

We cant accept and shouldn't be saying that we are not playing cricket with pakistan because of politics. We should stop saying that. We are not playing cricket with pakistan because we dont want terrorism, and at the least we dont want to fund the terrorism sponsored by the money gained by playing cricket against us.

Shouldnt this be a moral thing that everybody should have it?

Hopefully we get this into our mind.

On one hand I am a very ordinary person thinking this way and there are a lot of people who think this way. Then cant a sports idol apply some thought to it.

thanks,
One concerned Indian.

Delink cricket from politics
by Raj Nahata on Aug 31, 2003 04:01 AM

My dear Manjrekar,

The jawans are getting killed everyday and so are the innocent civilians. That is not politics. That is the highest sacrifice. If you cannot do your job for India let the others do atleast.

Revenge Time?
by amar on Aug 31, 2003 02:38 AM

I believe this is th right time to give pakistan the taste of their own medicine!! With a dearth of talent in Pak cricket, this is the right time for India to inflict crucshing defeats on them that they remember for time to come. I think Manjrekar is right, form the psychological perspective this is the right time to show Pakistan wre its cricket stands!!
