i thought wasim jaffer was very good when he last played and opened for india. inexplicably, the selectors dropped him too soon. he seems to be a genuine opener unlike the makeshift variety we have dabbled with in the last couple of years. the selectors should give him a long look and not drop him after just 1 or 2 tests (even if he initially fails in them) 'cos it is clear that he has the ability to play the moving ball and the seamers well off his back foot...something that we sorely lack currently in our team w.r.t. openers and the new ball. he also seems like a cool customer under pressure.
Jaffer is an excellent opening batsman with great cricketing skills. Although he got his chances in the senior side against South Africa and WestIndies in the past but he could not establish himself as a permanent opener in the senior team. Hopefully these innings in England will help him restore his confindence and do a lot of good for his future. I wish him all the best for his coming matches as well as the indian team for the home series against New Zealand.
I think there is a big attitudinal problem with us Indians...Why not hope for scoring well in 10 of 10 games, why only 7...We tend to play it safe even while talking. Don't know whether that helps?!!
